Spawn Point Lesson 5: Gary becomes observant!
Using the teachings from spawn point lesson 5 and a bit of reading of the Pico-8 manual I've made a bunch of tiles for Gary to respond to. It kind of reminds me of old point& click adventure games, where you would type "LOOK AT" to get your protag to react to things. Makes me think about Gary's world and what kind of adventures he could go on.

Lesson 3 - Hotdog goes for a walk
Used LICEcap on my Mac to create moving gif (hope it moves). If someone knows of a better solution, please share.

Pico-8 allows you to create gifs from the tool itself! you press Ctrl+8 to set your starting point, then do your thing, then press Ctrl+9 to create a GIF. Pico-8 always records, and by default it makes an 8 second GIF. Check out the manual under chapter 1.9: https://www.lexaloffle.com/dl/docs/pico-8_manual.html

@Gerard Honing I should do that too. right now I'm just rewriting code every single homework assignment... then again repetition does help study. hm
Spawn Point Lesson 4 Homework
I'm back! I've made a cute little environment with some water and multiple flowers. For the background color, I've made a Time of Day variable that keeps counting up. Every five seconds or so (150 frames) it changes the bgcolor to simulate a very rudimentary day/night cycle.

Lesson 1 - Definitely an Impossible Space Game
I drew the first thing came to mind and it quickly turned into a reaction gif.

I'd love some feedback on what you think so far! You gotta be my guinea pig, ok? Does this help you? If not...what would? Do you like the lesson plan so far? Like the style?

I like how bite-sized they are, for now! it's fun to see how comparatively little effort needs to go into a single mechanic, and it gives me space and time to add a bit of my own flair.
