Would love some feedback on this!
Hey there! So firstly, I’d like to apologize for being so quiet. I was really excited to join this community and see everyone’s progress on their projects. However, I tend to burn out super quickly. Balancing a retail night position, trying to look into a new career path, and trying to build new skills, while regaining that creative spark is admittedly a lot. (Winter doesn’t help either.) Which leads me to just halt my own progress in learning, causing me to “shut down” in a way. I suddenly find myself not in the mood to code and even ease away from engaging in these smaller communities that I love. I’m curious if anyone has some thoughts on this dilemma I’ve always struggled with. Honestly, this took a lot for me to even reach out, but I’d greatly appreciate any feedback you guys have. Hope everyone is doing well. Peace!

@Michael Patterson Thanks, and there's definitely something about Pico-8 that makes you come back to it. It really scratches that creative itch I've been wanting back for a while.

@Michael Patterson Wow, I really appreciate the feedback! The post it notes are clever. And you're right, there are a ton of ways to handle this. I think I finally realized how Pico-8 reads the game logic through pixels. You just have to tell it the size of the sprites you're trying to collide. I distinctly remember now what made me "rage quit" a while back. It just felt like a lot at once was all. I finally got wall collision to work, but then trying to debug a pick-up error messed up the wall logic and it felt like I was going in circles. But hey, it's all about trial and error, right?

I drew the first thing came to mind and it quickly turned into a reaction gif.

How’s your Pixel Art Skills?
Post something you’ve made, doesn’t have to be good! Pixel art is so fun for me because honestly, I’m not that great of an artist, but pixel art lets me take my time and be exact, so it works out! Btw if u didn’t know I have a free pixel art course in the classroom: https://www.skool.com/game-development-skool-5007/classroom/d711a163

I did a quick sketch of a space ship (although my friend said it looks like a little dude. He isn't wrong.), but then decided for an older retro Atari look for the concept. Gotta start somewhere, right?

I’m excited to take my brief knowledge of animation and use it for game design. Pico-8 really seems to spark that creative inch in me.
