Respond: Post Your Unique Summary Here
This is where it starts — your professional story, distilled into a few powerful lines. Your summary isn’t about listing tools. I’s about communicating your value, perspective, and unique lens on the work you do. In your comment below, include: - Your specialty — what you do best - Your top affinity — who you connect with naturally (ex. educators, nonprofits, open-source, etc.) - Your previous industry or current vertical (if applicable) — where you’ve built or what you’ve transitioned from Example: Backend developer who thrives in early-stage environments and messy codebases. I’ve worked mostly in FinTech, focusing on API reliability and transaction safety. Former financial analyst — I bring a systems mindset to engineering.

Cloud-focused backend engineer with 4+ years of experience in FinTech. Skilled in Python, Go, and AWS CDK. I excel at building event-driven systems, streamlining CI/CD pipelines, and owning features end-to-end from data ingestion to user-facing search. I love proof-of-concept work and bringing energy to all stages of the development cycle.
Reflect: Meet One Goal at a Time
Take a minute, reflect, and decide which single goal you’re optimizing for during this process: pay, location, lack of competition, or ease of interview. Write out what decisions you’ll make in your job search that reflect that priority. Keep it short and clear (2–3 bullet points).

I'm employed right and have until this April to upgrade my current contract position. I have worked at non-tech or second tier tech companies (software was not their main product) my whole career and I would like to change that. I will be optimizing for the company - ideally anywhere in socal.
Reflect: Find Your Affinities
Find and join one WhatsApp tech affinity group that connects with your background or goals. Share which one you joined — include a short note about what drew you to it or why it is relevant to you.

I feel very weird at tech networking events but this will be very good for me!! There is a OC Tech Link up every 2 weeks and a python group very local to me on meetup.com! I will go mid january!
Reflect: Specialize
Write down 3–5 things that describe how you create value — not technologies, but traits or patterns of impact. “The themes that define my specialization are ___.” It doesn’t have to be perfect — this is about clarity, not branding.

[ROUGH DRAFT, idk if i want to be the ambiguity guy] The themes that define my speciality are.. - highly adaptable, talented at diving into complexity and delivering quickly - thriving in ambiguity, finding ways to deliver value - building consistent data systems through concrete data modeling with tooling like CDTs, pydantic, ect.
Reflect: Sell Your Results
Take a few minutes to reflect on your experiences from a results perspective. Build off of “One example of a result my work has created is ___.” Don’t worry about making it perfect — just start connecting your code to outcomes.

I implemented contract driven tests in org's cicds, removing the need for cross-team integration tests reducing our total pipeline deployment times by 20%
