Tello SIM | Non Resident: APPROVED
If any of you are having issue with Tello for signing up from outside USA, this may help you: - I got rejected for 5+ times form 2 new accounts ; using email from pc browser - I used foreign address + foreign card, US address + US card but still got rejected - Doing it from mobile browser and paying with Apple pay fixed the issue ( google pay should work too ) - Sim card was approved within a minute I asked their support about why it is being rejected and they said, their automated system is not approving me. Since its automated system, you can find ways :) Hope this helps.

As far as I understand, the banks have been very diligent already with the address and PoA requirements for us non us persons, and these two things are all the more important than ever now. I think to be fully compliant one should prefer a corp instead of an LLC, get a verifiable business address and also a personal address. ( I know you loose the tax benefit with a corp, but you can pay yourself as an overseas contractor (W8-BEN) and its a deductible expense if the remuneration is reasonable and at arms length) I think business bank accounts would be unaffected by this, but personal bank accounts opened under an ITIN will have high scrutiny if there is cash landing in it from multiple sources apart from the business you have in the US.
Business Structure
Hey everyone, I know this community focuses on personal banking, but I wanted to raise something that affects most of us at the starting point, the business structure itself. Quick question for those who have gone through this: Do US banks and payment processors (Stripe, Shopify Payments, Mercury, Relay, BoFA, Chase etc.) treat a C-Corporation (Inc.) differently from a single-member LLC when the owner is a non-US resident, specifically when opening business bank accounts and merchant accounts? My understanding is that a C-Corp may actually be cleaner from a KYC perspective because: - It is a fully separate resident US legal entity - The Inc is a US resident for tax purpose - It files its own tax returns (Form 1120) independently of the foreign owner - Foreign ownership is straightforward and well-understood by banks — it is simply a shareholder relationship with a clear corporate structure Whereas a single-member LLC with a foreign owner can complicate KYC conversations because it is a disregarded entity for US tax purposes — meaning the IRS treats it as if it does not exist and looks straight through to the foreign owner. Some banks get uncomfortable with this transparency because it raises questions about whether the business has genuine US economic substance separate from the foreign individual. Has anyone had a noticeably smoother or harder experience with one structure vs the other when opening US business bank account and Payment Processor accounts as a non-US owner? Specifically — did the single-member LLC disregarded entity status ever come up as a problem during KYC? On the business address question — this is where I could use the most help: I am specifically looking for a US business address that satisfies the following requirements simultaneously, which is harder than it sounds: - A physical street address (not a PO Box and not flagged as a CMRA — commercial mail receiving agency) - Able to receive mail and packages on behalf of the company - Utility bill or lease agreement in the company name (not a registered agent name) - Accepted by Stripe, Shopify Payments, and US banks as a legitimate business address for KYC purposes

@Yafeth Rivera since 2025 BOI filing with FinCen has been waived.

@Yafeth Rivera yes exactly, and 1042-s if dividends are distributed. Right now this new trump executive order has given me anxiety, I dont know how it will turn out for us non residents. I also have a visa and can go to USA, but looks like its a wait and watch. Does having a US-Citizen shareholder help get more compliant, if he can be an authorized officer for all financial compliance ?
Address now flagged as Commercial
Hi guys! The address I was using got flagged as commercial, so ideally need to change. I have a few friends and family who I may be able to use address for - what's the smoothest proof of address I can get, and how do I easily shift my credit over to this new address promptly?

I think a utility bill (coaxial/fiber internet/landline phone) coupled with a lease agreement is the best. Anything else either won’t get approved or will give you anxiety down the road.
AMEX PoA for GT
Hi, Anyone done a global transfer for Amex, they are asking for proof of address documents but wont accept the documents listed in the classroom nor Tello bill. Anyone that's done the process before, curious which documents you used to get approved please?

A utility bill (water electric gas internet landline) is the strongest PoA document. Anchors your presence/occupancy at the address.
