APPROVED: Alliant CU | Fully remote | w/ ITIN | Foreign address
Anyone looking for a US checking / savings account should check out Alliant, the process was pretty straightforward. I was drawn to Alliant specifically because they allowed W-8BENs at initial account opening, and you don't need to have a US address. They are explicitly NRA-friendly, so no in-person visits required either. The only catch is that you need to fill out a "paper" application instead of going through the online process. Here's the link to the form, which you can fax, mail, or send via the chat. I did it via the chat, I just said I wanted to submit a paper application and if they could please forward it to the back office. Documents I submitted: - Signed form (signed in wet ink and scanned) - Passport - ITIN letter - W-8BEN - Utility bill evidencing my street address as stated in the form Timeline: - 17 April – submitted documents via chat - 26 April – received email stating my debit card was shipped on 23 April - 27 April – called them to ask for my member number so I could setup online banking; details sent via secure email (account opening date was stated as 22 April) So overall it was a quick and hassle free process, I'll update this post when I receive my debit card!

@Fars S. Tick D with the $5 donation
Hi everyone, my NFCU membership application was just approved last week. I’m hoping to apply for a no-deposit credit card to build my credit, but I don't currently have a credit card of my own.
I know I can apply for a secured credit card, but I’m worried it won't be upgradable to an unsecured version later, which could affect my ability to apply for other cards (specifically Chase's 5/24 rule). I’m aiming for the unsecured CashRewards Plus or CashRewards card. Is there any way to strengthen my relationship with NFCU? I currently have a $2,000 direct deposit, and I’m planning to take out a $1,500 secured loan with them—would that help build the relationship? Could anyone share how long it took to get approved for an NFCU credit card after opening an account (especially if starting with poor credit or just beginning to build credit)? Thanks. My current credit history: An HSBC credit card (authorized user)—primary card limit of $12,500; held for one year. A Chase credit card (authorized user)—primary card limit of $5,600; held for five months. A CreditStrong loan—started one month ago. A "Mine" credit-building loan—opened in March; the company went out of business in May.

@A Vas The DD can just be from your foreign bank account?
The cheapest and most stable way I found to get a US mobile/residential proxy 🇺🇸📱
I originally tried options like RedPocket and Tello, but unfortunately my iPhone would not connect properly to data roaming. Every time I switched off Wi-Fi, it went straight to SOS, so that route did not work for me. After doing a lot of research, I found a cleaner and more stable alternative that can give you a mobile or residential proxy in a specific US city/state when available — and the cost can be as low as around $0.80 for 3.3GB. This can be very useful when you are trying to access US banking, credit card, or financial platforms while keeping your connection consistent with your US setup. I genuinely believe having a stable US connection played a role in helping me get approved for a $2,000 Capital One Platinum card with a brand new ITIN. https://www.skool.com/itin/cp1-approved-for-2k?p=b09f4e85 It does require a little bit of technical setup, but it is not too hard once you understand the steps. Comment and leave a like whoever interested below.Ill write down a step by step guide. Capital One Card Suspended
Capital One suspended my card after my very first transaction, a $6 charge, and asked for proof of income and 3 months of bank statements. I've submitted everything they asked for, and now they're saying they can't accept my statements. This is my first ITIN card so I don't exactly have USD bank statements to hand, and for what it's worth, I'm in a country with a USD-pegged currency, so it's not like there's any conversion ambiguity. Has anyone else run into this? How did you get through verification?

@Ain - Cloud Resident International transfers from your foreign account into the US bank account are fine and will pass the financial review? If that’s your only inflow?
Amex Global Transfer - AU to US Experience
Hi all, Just sharing my experience using the Amex Global Transfer program to get a US credit card. For context, I do not have an ITIN yet so applied with just my passport. The time line was as follows: - Saturday - used my AU login on the US site to submit an application for the Hilton no annual fee card - Saturday - after submission received an outcome saying I would need to call them (only open on Monday) - Monday - called the Amex GT team they requested proof of the address I provided (utility bill, lease agreement, bank statement etc.) unfortunately they did not approve my Tello utility bill for my ATMB address - Today - I was able to source a different address which included a lease agreement, I called Amex letting them know I needed to change the address, they changed the address in their system. I uploaded the documents while still on the phone, documents were reviewed and card finally approved on the phone call (no income/bank statements required) Hope this is a helpful datapoint for some. I used an income less than 40K and was approved for a $5K limit.

@John Flack Thank you! Congrats on your surpass! I am also interested to see what the CLI process looks like as I’m hoping to increase this one after 6-12 months to the 3x limit amount

@John Flack Sorry just to add, did you apply with ITIN for yours? If not were you able to have it added later? Heard mixed reports about sometimes you can other times you need to apply for another Amex to get it added?
