Need advice-
My daughter is 28 months old and is a picky eater . When it comes to soft foods , she eats after some tantrums .However , she refrains from eating foods like cookies , crackers although she can chew other soft foods. Eg- she eats fruits, breads , pasta , soft cookies like bear paws, oatmeal, soaked cornflakes , but the moment she realizes it’s a hard food, she spits it out. I’d really appreciate if I could get some suggestions on how can I encourage her to eat such foods . I’ve also noticed she drools more often than before. I cannot rule out drooling because of teething but I do not see any progress in terms of new teeth showing up. I’m a bit concerned about does this or will it somehow affect her speech ? I maybe wrong in thinking this but is it because her oral muscles aren’t as strong is it because she’s just picky and being a toddler ? Any suggestions on how I can work on this are truly helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! 1 thing I am trying and seems to work with my daughter (so far)is I sing the phrase until she makes an attempt to say the word . For example , she loves to watch Ms. Rachel . So when I want her to say any word , I sing in the tune she’s familiar with and I say .. “say up , say up .. sayyyyy & then pause & wait for her , and she says up” . Likewise I have also taught her the word “open” . Like she wants to open up a box of toys .. I sing in the familiar tune .. “ say open , say open , say…. &pause .. and she now says open.” Also , when I know she will speak the word with some motivation, I lip sync the word and wait to complete the task she wants me to do until she says it . Eg : I don’t open her toy box until she says “open” . I’d like to add that i do so in a playful way so she doesnt get pressured & if she still doesnt say anything after couple of seconds , I complete her sentence. But I keep the routine going . Hope this helps :)
