What shoes does everyone rock!?
These were my main shoes last year, but I used to wear Vapor’s for the first 5 or so years indoor and outdoor! Left to right TC pros (for crack climbing) 5.10 mocsassains (slip on warm up/ chill shoes) Skwamas (my try hard shoe) I’ve been using unparalleled Quincy’s for the last 5 or so months and really liking them too. Curious what everyone else is wearing??

I’m wearing Solutions right now, they’re good, but not as nice as my Skwamas. They’re my favourite shoe, but are in need on a resole right now so they’re temporarily retired. I also have a pair of Veloce’s that I use for slabby problems, but they too are in need of a resole. Lastly I have these Chimera’s below, which I’ve taken to using as projecting shoes for hard overhung routes. 📸 Shoe porn by yours truly.

@Mike Vert thanks dude!
What is your favourite type of climb?
Overhang, slab, dynos what do you like the most? Personally I like variety and a nice long route (if on rope) with balance focused movement and some try hard moves on a roof. I also love climbing on aretes!! What about y’all?

@Caleb Williams yeeeeaaah buddy, we love a slabby climb. Tight, delicate balancy moves with small holes and sketchy feet?? What’s not to love!

@Elsa Carrillo I love slab, but haven’t had much experience with Aretes! Overhangs are fun though, the adrenaline really starts pumping!
Climbing Friends / Partners!
How did you find you climbing friends or partners? I get asked this question all the time. I met a lot at the gym, convinced friends and family to come with me and dragged any existing friends in as well haha. How did ya'll meet your climbing homies?

I met my climbing partner at work. I was contracted to work with a new agency and set up a Teams call to meet their team. During the call someone asked what I do for fun, and when I said climbing this guy popped up out of no where and went “You climb!?!? We should go together sometime!” And that was it. We’ve met a bunch of friends since then at the gym, and have grown our little circle. I love how friendly and chill the climbing community is.
ending a boulder problem in indoor gyms
In Singapore/Asia in general, we end a climb by matching our hands on the last hold. I heard that in gyms in the US, people end their climbs by matching and holding the top of the wall? I saw a Canadian guy doing that in my gym and I was wondering what he was doing haha. How do you usually end your boulder climbs in your gyms?

@Ed Struble I’m kind of on board with you here. My gym has two locations and at both you can top out over the wall, but their first (and OG) location the last ‘hold’ is the top edge of the wall which they mark with a box of coloured tape. I definitely see a lot of people skipping moves to practically dyno it, and I’ve totally done it too when I’m gassed or scared.
Howdy
Hi! I'm Lauren. My home gym is in Richmond, VA. My favorite outdoor bouldering crag is Stone Fort (near Chattanooga). My favorite sport crag is Reed's Creek in West Virginia. I am finally giving myself permission to be great at climbing. 💪❤️
