It's been a whirl wind week let me tell you! Yesterday we went to Bloomington Lake - it's a glacier lake. The last time I was there, year before last, the road was so sketchy we weren't sure we could get there even in our jeep. We had the place mostly to ourselves because of it. Yesterday when our mob descended it was a whole different story. The road in was recently regraded and there were a whole bunch of people - well to be fair we were probably half the people there 🤣 There's a rope swing and cliff jumping and the water was swimmable. (after all these people are from California and used to swimming in pretty cold water) All the fun. They are off to Yellowstone today ☘️🌼🌿🪺🌿🌼☘️ What I learned from watching this group in action. Preparation is key. Six families traveling together across the country - they often camp together at home - they don't duplicate their efforts they magnify them. Everyone has a job when they arrive someplace - even the kids. The planning started last year. Because of that there was a lot of room for improvisation - they knew what the options were before they came but let the time here develop based on what the whole group felt would be a good experience. They moved as one organism. That is what I want for us here when it comes to Substack. We are all our own little units but together we can amplify each other so that everyone in the community has an amazing experience. ☘️🌼🌿🪺🌿🌼☘️ It starts with everyone getting Substack optimized to make the journey easy and reliable - it's like the RV. Next you plot your adventure. And then we all move together here in this thread amplifying each other's content by interacting with it. ☘️🌼🌿🪺🌿🌼☘️ Five simple sets: 1. The California contingent arrived yesterday - we actually caught up to them going through the mountain pass between Logan and Bear Lake - It's a whole gaggle of them My son and his family and then 5 other families in a big caravan traveling along. It's kind of surreal to me to see these people I've known since they kids (my son's friends) as they are now all in their 40s. All the local kids showed up too - so fun. This is going to be a shorter boost post because I'd like to catch up on the notes you all dropped yesterday and do some quite stuff this morning before I head back up there. 🌱🤝💜✨🌿🚀🌞 That does mean there won't be a Q&A today or Monetize Your Mission Mastermind tomorrow. This week my son, who lives in San Diego normally, and his family (and a gaggle of their friends) will be caravaning in to stay at bear lake - which is the other side of the mountain from where I live. One of my other sons will be camping there with them and the rest of us will be popping over each of the three days they are here to go do fun adventures. Such an exciting week ahead. They are arriving on Tuesday so no Q&A/Social Hour or Monetize Your Mission Mastermind this week but the next week things will be even better than normal! 🪐💜🌱✨☕🌎💫 Yesterday I started - or should I say adjusted - an experiment I've been running for about six months now. And that is the Learn Substack - Substack Starter Space. Originally I created the community after a conversation with @Des Dreckett about public Skool communities and their SEO value. I was curious what would happen if I simply created a genuinely useful public resource and consistently added content without worrying about promoting it. For the past six months that's almost exactly what we've done. No complicated funnels. No advertising. Just showing up and posting helpful content about getting started on Substack. Slowly but surely the community has grown to 136 members, simply because people keep finding it.
