Decolonisation of the IDGs a conversation that started at Caux
This message is from Rukmini who attended the Caux Forum Dear all, some of you here joined the conversation on decolonisation yesterday. Thank you! I have attempted to capture our thoughts and also added some more in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13GsSpR3EFRNSvKW42rRtFl0o3v-TfFRww0WGeZcvGTA/edit?usp=sharing At the moment it is a sort of a concept note. If the IDG Foundation is interested, we might be able to continue working on it as a collaborative working paper, perhaps. This group was created because several of you expressed the need to continue this conversation. We could also collectively figure where we want to take this ahead. Cheers, Rukmini

@Nadene Canning thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I love it that you began with the comment that we are all connected ๐Ÿ™. I used to unconsciously ignore much of the discourse about generational trauma and decolonisation. Thanks to the extraordinarily wise and balanced IDGs ecosystem, I was lucky to connect with other leadership experts who introduced me Thomas Hรผbl's work. So began another phase of seismic inner transformation in my attunement to ancestral suffering. This thread wouldn't do the conversation justice. However, it is high time that WEIRD countries re evaluate their impact on planetary health and wellbeing. @Nadene Canning can you please clarify your last comment? I'd love to understand how it connects to the narrative emerging from compassionate decolonisation conversations globally. Healing is a profoundly construct that may be inadvertently used to skip necessary steps for collective healing. To be clear, the work by Thomas Hรผbl that I'm referring to (he is speaking at the Summit's digital space) is a beautifully researched approach to attuning gently to the intergenerational impact of colonisation AND lovingly work towards a shared understanding where healing can be collectively integrated. As IDG researchers and practitioners, we want to hold space for those liminal spaces where healing occurs and activate us toward a collective future of equality, justice and flourishing. In other words, go slow to go fast...for a truly inclusive tomorrow :)
Inviting Feedback for Inner Development EdTech Platform
Hey there, I'm developing an app for post-secondary learners to link their Inner Development Goals (IDGs) with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through projects. There's a demo video below. The goal is two-fold: 1. develop adolescent/youth well-being from the inside out 2. accelerating SDG progress through actionable IDG practices Site for feedback: https://projects.marcushiggs.com/ Check out the demo: https://v0-project-spark-finder.vercel.app/ What features would you recommend for this app? Thanks for your feedback!

Hi @M. Aurelius Higgs your project would be a great interest to the IDG Higher Education Circle, led by Viviana, Fredrik and Yuliya. Just had a look at your video and will also show it to my son who is at university! Will connect you with two other IDG colleagues working in this area here in Australia (not in this online community).

@M. Aurelius Higgs that's great, thanks for the update!
IDG Practitioners in Australia?
Hello dear IDG Community I come from a tiny remote area mountain community in Tasmania (Australia) embarking on preparedness for rapid change. This is taking us into all sorts of spaces such as fire ecology, food and water security, land management etc, but we are increasingly aware that our socio-emotional integrity and resilience is central to all else we do. As funding opportunities for preparedness are increasingly available to rural communities like ours, we are on the look out for in-situ workshop facilitators who could support us in growing our social cohesion in the light of change. Iโ€™m wondering if IDG practitioners exist in Australia who could help us with our project life through inner development training. Iโ€™d be so grateful for any direction (I donโ€™t have LinkedIn, so websites, emails, phone numbers would be better contact details for me - or Iโ€™m happy to share my contact details for referrals). Warmest, liana

Hi @Liana Guegan I'm an IDG Practitioner based in the outskirts of Sydney (but completed part of my post-grad studies in beautiful Tassie!). Your work to nurture social cohesion is pivotal to the success of any deep adaptation change initiative, and I wish to acknowledge your foresight. I've been supporting our local Council on similar initiatives for our community. This is precisely the work I do as a systemic team coach and facilitator in the ecological space. We are a small and mighty team, and official (small business) IDG partners. No worries about not having LinkedIn, here's our website at www.proveritas.com.au As lead author and chief editor of Shaping Tomorrow: A Playbook for Coaching Leaders in Sustainable Decision Making and Policy (published by the Climate Coaching Alliance or CCA), I advocated for the IDG Framework to be at the centre of the holistic transformation needed to build deeply adaptive and resilient communities. You can find the Playbook on the IDG website here https://innerdevelopmentgoals.org/resources/ My email is rcampbell@proveritas.com.au and I'd love to collaborate with anyone in Australia working at the intersection of IDGs and regeneration ๐Ÿ˜Š @Sibylle Breiner I hope it's OK to include this blurb here. I've been silent for a little while as we get ready for the IDG Summit 2025 and related activities. Also helping out as Co-lead for the Oceania IDG Framework Research with Fredrick and Elis. Loving this community more and more ๐Ÿ’š
Personal Agency and Inner Development
In the Global Practitioner Network we kicked off 2025 with a series of 3 discussions on personal agency. This illustration was put together from the collective intelligence that came out of our first session, thanks to @Joe McMartin @Daria Larsson Vella and @Manuela Pagani Larghi If you missed the session we invite you to reflect on these questions in this community, together: Think about one or 2 recent events and notice when your personal agency went up. Which IDGs skills we need to develop/activate in order to move up from not being acting with agency? and What are the conditions that facilitate this or not?

๐ŸŒŸ Update see end of post: Co-Creating the IDG Guiding Principles: Share Your Voice! ๐ŸŒŸ
Dear Community, The IDG Foundation is undertaking a significant and inspiring mission to redefine the guiding principles of the IDG movementโ€”principles that will serve as a foundation for how we advocate and integrate inner development for outer change. @Nadene Canning and I, as members of the Global Coordination Team for IDG Hubs and Networks (GCT), are deeply involved in this project, and we would love to hear your thoughts! Your input is highly appreciated as we work to co-create a shared foundation for the future. What guiding principles do you believe are essential for fostering inner development that leads to meaningful outer impact? 2๏ธโƒฃ Are there any frameworks or movements you know of with inspiring principles we should look to as benchmarks? โœจ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‰๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐€๐ก๐ž๐š๐: - By May 2025, the project team aims to create a first draft of these principles, gathering ideas from the IDG community and beyond. - The draft will then be tested, refined, and finalized for an launch at the IDG Summit in October in Stockholm. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of the IDG movement and inspire global action. Letโ€™s co-create a foundation that truly embodies our shared vision for inner and outer transformation. Drop your thoughts, ideas, and inspiration in the comments below! With warmth and gratitude, Sibylle Update 17. February The work on the IDG principles continues and is still an ongoing process. Thank you for inviting us to shape the IDG of tomorrow @Sibylle Breiner @Nadene Canning @Pontus Holmgren and the rest of the team! I will reflect on the questions after I take a deeper look at the survey. If I may also ask, for everyone's consideration: how can we make this process more congnitively and neuro inclusive? ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ™

@Sibylle Breiner sure! Sometimes we inadvertently forget that we are communicating in writing and in English, using neurotypical timeframes and linguistic styles. It would be good to explicitly include the needs of neurodiverse folk in the IDG principles. I just completed the survey kindly circulated by @Pontus Holmgren . Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒ
