Video Surging in Views
Hello everyone. Over the past 4 days I've had a video that has begun to pick up a lot of views, almost 1300 the last I looked. I'm curious what to expect if anyone has had similar experiences? Does it flatline for awhile while YT figures stuff out and resurge or does it continue to get pushed out more and more? A friend that I know had a video go viral (it did get her monetized) about 8 months ago and mentioned that her's did not pick up momentum until day 26. What I have noticed since this interest in the video, is that my other videos have begun to surge as well. Any thoughts, tips, etc?

@Just Krista You’re most welcome and thanks for your encouraging words. I guess it’s all part of the experience as we observe, we learn. We’ve got this❣️

Audience Stats - New Viewer Increase
Hi, creators❣️ Have you checked your stats lately and by what percentage have your viewers increased? Based on “Audience by watch behavior” metrics (YouTube Studio), my monthly audience has increased as follows: • New Viewers - 94.1% (First Time) • Casual Viewers - 5.0% (Up to 5 months over the past year) • Regular Viewers - 1.0% (6 or more months over the past year) Keep those new viewers coming in, y’all. They are vital to the potential growth of our subs and watch hours. These metrics have helped me learn more about my viewing audience. Here’s hoping that you are seeing an increase, no matter how small. 😍

Hello creators❣️
My name is Rozani (Pronounced Rose On Knee) and I thought it would be nice to be a part of Karen’s delightful community. I’m interested in YouTube topics that help our channels grow in visibility. Perhaps I’ll be able to contribute some tidbits that I’ve learned along the way. My channel is @rozanidesignsmasquerade7050 Here’s looking forward to making your acquaintance. 😀

Magic? And other contentious words in titles...
So I was watching today's live, I missed the live as I had a full on morning, at the latter end of a full on crazy, shocking, lift you off the planet and shake you up kind of week. I almost lost my sister to a pulmonary embolism and am still reeling. She is ok, out of the woods, we have been so lucky. Anyway, in the live, Rhonda mentioned that one of her videos really took off and in the title she had used the word Magic, which brought up some discussion. This had me thinking about how things like this can affect your channel, especially my niche for my old/only current channel, which is mainly based around Tarot, and how I used the cards for self guidance and healing. There are many misconceptions around things, especially words like Magic, Witch, Tarot... this is one reason why I think a new channel may work better for my healing journey/day to day vlogging. I have seen similar prejudice in the opposite way for words like miracle... which was also mentioned. I have been pulled up for using words like blessing, because I am "a wicked evil witch" who uses Tarot! I am none of those things, but you know how these things go. So I wonder if anyone has had similar issue with a word they have used in their title or even their channel name? Sorry if this is bit deep but I have been thinking about this and then Rhonda mentioned it!

Interesting. Were you officially approached by YouTube about this? The way I look at it is if it’s not banned on YouTube, I would ignore or delete any negative comments. People will have prejudices and/or preferences, superstitions and misconceptions. Plus confusion, misinterpretation, stereotyping, fear, you name it. Most don’t even know the root words or care to find out. This is my personal opinion over years of observation. Take the Magi/Wisemen, for instance. Do we take them out of the big picture? I mean, if people are going to nit pick astrologers, scholars, herbalists, healers, mystics, etc., so be it. I make all kinds of masks, costumes and sculptures that are influenced by cultures, folklore, mythology, history and traditions. I had my fair share of “Did you know that costume lady likes devils and vampires?”. 😂 Or how about “Medieval”, also misinterpreted? I’ve taken so many things with a grain of salt over the years. Be “You”. Should there be actual threats, then it would create an issue. We should not feel intimidated without good reason because of our choices, practices, hobbies, interests, faiths, ethnicities, nationalities, etc. I could go on and on.

@L T Oh, I understand now. Interesting. Thanks. Good topic.
What's the longest you've ever gone not posting any videos?
I'm hitting 4 weeks now, with a new long form video coming out this weekend. This will be the longest time for me I think and while it's not ideal, I am OK with it. I've been wrestling with a couple of script outline-y thingy's for this and the next video and been tempted to just roll with an outline I had a couple weeks ago but then changed my mind. I've not yet filmed a video I wasn't 100% onboard with so why start now? And of course been enjoying doing group lives so that always fills my cup. What's your longest time without posting any videos and why? PS. Pinched this wall art idea from seeing this video from Peter McKinnon when he was visiting the Epidemic Sound studios! I made it in Canva - let me know if you want a copy and I'll drop it in here.

Clever piece of wall art, Karen❣️ I don’t use a wall but thanks. Wall art and objects of interest are great attention getters. If there’s a background in a shot, there’s potential for subliminal marketing and/or product placing (unless you’re sponsored). If I recall correctly, my videos were randomly posted a few months apart here and there when I was first starting out. I was intentionally consuming more than creating. That was a time (2015) for me to explore and learn what others like me were doing online or if there were any others like me out there in YouTube land. I wasn’t retired then and had a business to manage while also attending festivals and shows. Let’s see…..in recent years, I’d say my longest breaks ranged maybe (3) weeks to a month. Most recently, maybe a couple of weeks. The weather plays a big roll in the whole process for me. Rainy and hurricane seasons are iffy. I try to “Batch” create videos whenever possible. Ultimately, I personally believe that it’s all about your content and reach. If a video is interesting and a topic that resonates with new viewers, it will grow quicker than just with regular followers. That’s why some creators are very successful at going one or more months apart. Balance is the key and moving forward as you have been doing with “Lives” seems to keep the watch hours on track. Even the Community posts are helpful because they keep viewers informed. Also, interacting with other creators’ “Lives” are very beneficial to your audience growth. 🙂

@Karen Taylor We can learn so much by observing those content creators at the top of their YouTube careers. My a/c or heat kicks in while I’m recording and it’s way loud. That causes background noise and I don’t always want to start over when it’s on the same track. Otherwise, I could extract the background noise. My phone mic picks up a lot of sound. Long story short…..I’m a costume designer with a studio & once had dress makers. I had a retail shop location which I closed during the Pandemic. I also taught sculpting and mask making classes on and off location.
