YOUR DAILY HQ POWERUP - JENNY
Sometimes you have to try on a different version of yourself to realise it doesn’t fit. That doesn’t mean you got it wrong. It means you learned something. Maybe you weren’t trying to escape who you are. Maybe you were trying to escape who other people told you to be. There’s a difference. Experiment. Change your mind. Come back to what you love with more clarity than before. Today’s POWERUP: growth isn’t always becoming someone new. Sometimes it’s returning to yourself without asking permission.

It's a slight twist on this but I'm giving myself permission to try going back to the traditional way of hand-stitching the saddle stitch. It's been 7 years. I've learnt a lot since then and my skill level has increased. I'm more aware of what happens when hand-stitching and where the threads neet to be to give a neat stitch both front and back. It means lots of practice to built up the neatness and muscle memory but I feel it's worth it. It may be that I do a hybrid? Either way I feel really positive about it. Note: The traditional way of making a saddle stitch is what they call a "working stitch" and is even stronger, which is obviously needed for saddles etc...

@Jenny Jarvis It's going really well so far. A lot better than I thought it would.

Sometimes the hardest no is the one that comes late. When you’ve already spent time on it. When you’ve talked yourself into it. When you’ve really wanted it to work. That’s when it gets tempting to keep going, just because you’ve already gone this far. But being a long way down the wrong road doesn’t make it the right road. It just means you’ve got more reason to stop before you go any further. Today’s POWERUP: saying no late isn’t failure. Sometimes it’s the moment you finally listen to yourself.

Yesterday I went back to bell ringing after being very sporadic for a couple of years. I’d completely lost the enthusiasm for it. I’d been trying to fit it in and it just wasn’t working because my life has changed so much. To get to a practice where I have trained for the last 10 years felt impossible on top of everything else. This church is five minutes from my office. I was welcomed in, had a brilliant evening and came away wanting to study again (yes, ringing church bells does require homework!). I really miss some of my old band, my best friend is in it, but holding on to that was stopping me doing anything. It made me realise how easy it is to think we’ve outgrown something, when often we’ve just outgrown the way we were doing it. Today’s POWERUP: maybe you haven’t lost your enthusiasm for your business, hobby, life goals. Maybe they just need a different home.

@Jenny Jarvis sounds like a win win 👍. I'm sure you'll get back into ringing soon.
A proud mum moment
A photo of us celebrating my daughter getting straight A's in her exam results today. She worked so hard for these results. It's funny these results mean than her previous ones because she was doing it for herself. She already had an unconditional offer for Uni but wanted to still do well. She even had to fight teachers to do Advanced Higher (Scottish exam slightly higher than an English A Level) in French. She was good at Maths so the teachers thought she should do that instead of French. I'm proud that she stood up for what she wanted to do and enjoyed doing. She went on holiday to France a month ago and people thought she was learning French in France. It helps that she loves speaking French and her school teacher is French. A very proud mum moment.

@Jenny Jarvis thanks. Yeah a lot of hard work has gone into those results. I can't believe my baby is growing up. They don't stay young for long.
