Do you have your socials linked?
I wonder if all of you have your socials linked to your Skool profile? I still haven't done this 🫣, need to do this asap! If you have other socials that you want to share, please put them in the comments under. let's get to know and support each other 😊

@Mindy Molein Ha, yeah, definitely two different audiences and two different hats. Keeps things cleaner not mixing the two, at least for now.

@Jeff Baer Same, it's such an easy trap too, feels productive to be everywhere until you realize nothing's actually getting the depth it needs. Better to do one thing well and expand once that's solid.
Heatwave number...
Last days were warm and today is the peak. My eyes are hurting from watching so much screen last days and here I am sitting inside staring screen, since it's the most logic thing to do. Please tell me you have a better weekend? What's up with you ?

At least screens don't give you a sunburn 😂Honestly didn't even open Skool over the weekend, which in retrospect might've been the smartest heatwave strategy of all, accidental, but I'll take the win!

@Dan Schaad That's so sad Dan! My assistant is in Spain rn and they are having these kind of issues as well. Hope everything chills out a bit (no pun intended)
Is charging from day one better than starting free and raising prices later?
Curious where people land on this, and not looking for the "it depends" answer, actual opinions welcome. Starting paid filters for serious members immediately but gives you a much smaller pool to prove the concept with. Starting free builds momentum and social proof faster but makes it awkward to introduce pricing later without some people feeling like the rules changed on them. If you could redo your own launch, would you pick the other path?

@Mindy Molein That distinction between an existing proven business versus something genuinely new is the piece I was missing. Makes total sense that "charge from day one" only holds up if there's already outside proof backing you, otherwise you're asking people to trust a promise instead of a track record. The boundary-setting point is probably the real fix regardless of which path you pick, most of the awkwardness people run into isn't the free-to-paid transition itself, it's not having been clear about it from the start.

@Mindy Molein Starting from scratch without knowing anyone's actually willing to pay yet is a strange kind of hard, you're building the thing and testing whether people want it at the same time, instead of just testing pricing on something already proven to have demand.
🐾 Stop paying somebody to read your own Skool data ✌️
You built the community - the members, posts, DMs, all of it. So why do Skoot, Skooly, Panda & SkoolKit charge you monthly rent just to look at it? Rude. So we fixed it. 🌉 The bridge between Skool and every AI tool. Skool has no public API. Catknows is the free, open-source client for its private one. Log in with your skool account and pull your members, posts, comments, likes, DMs & more into Claude, ChatGPT, Notion, a vault, raw JSON or what ever you want it to connect with. Now you can finally talk to your own data. "Who's about to churn?" "Draft this week's post." Your community, in the AI you already use. 💰 $0. Forever. Open source. Runs on your machine, with your login - your data never leaves your house. It's the foundation; you build on top. 🐈 Three steps: connect your Skool → plug into your AI → talk to your data. You're a co-builder here, not a customer. 👉 github.com/nklsschroeer707/catknows Served by catknows. You're welcome. ᓚᘏᗢ

This is exactly the kind of thing I didn't know I needed until reading it. Not having a public API has been the annoying part every time I've thought about automating anything beyond guest messaging, this closes that gap. Going to check out the repo, curious what "who's about to churn" actually looks like in practice with such a small member base like mine, might be more useful once we scale a bit.

@Mindy Molein Good call, better to have it set up early and grow into the data than scramble to retrofit it later once there's actually enough activity to matter. Going to get it connected this week.
What's one thing you wish someone told you before you started your community?
Still pretty new to running my own group and learning a lot of this the hard way. Curious what the veterans here would go back and tell themselves on day one, something you only figured out after a few months in. Trying to skip a few mistakes if I can.

@Mindy Molein That would be genuinely useful, honestly. Post templates especially, still figuring out the right cadence and tone for mine, having a few solid starting points to adapt would save a lot of the back-and-forth trial and error 🙏🏻

@Joe Jones Patrick Completely agree, and it's the one that's hardest to internalize early on when member count feels like the only visible scoreboard. A smaller group actually talking to each other beats a bigger one that's just watching silently.
