After I got my new Rado Diastar back in summer of 2024, I have not bought another mechanical ‘decent priced’ watch since. I was looking at watch sales on the grey market, and the first thing that caught my eye was the Glycine combat sub. The watch looks good, and is an automatic movement. But i had no idea how reputable Glycine is. So I did some research. And turns out they are quite good at making watches, have history, and is a very underrated brand. I heard the one thing that sort of turns people off about this brand is that Glycine is a subsidiary of Invicta. Personally, I am not a fan of Invicta. But after reading about the positive comments and reviews about how well built their glycine combat subs were. I pulled the trigger. I just received it today in the mail. And so far, i absolutely love it! The uni-directional bezel feels nicer and sounds better than my Bulova Oceanographer. I love the black finish and the NATO strap it came with it. It also sits slim on the wrist at 10.55 mm(?), which is very thin for a watch this calibre. One thing I do not like about the watch so far, is the relatively low power reserve at 38 hours. I would like it at least over 40, but there is a reason why this watch was pretty affordable. I just bought three new straps for the watch from BluShark, which should come in a week. I wanted to grt Glycine straps but sadly charge a lot for shipping, plus tariffs. Overall, I’d say very underrated watch brand, great selection of watches, will come back for more in the future. I have really wanted a mechanical field watch for a while (something like a Hamilton, but too expensive and out of my budget). This scratches the itch for a field watch, while also being a diver.

I’ve had it on my list since last year and finally pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did the delayed gratification is so much better. I try to list it for a while to make sure me wanting something is not just a fad. Dennison Tiger Eye
