Centralized Trading
Hi All! We are considering hiring a trader and centralizing our trading process (currently each advisor is doing their own trading). I was curious if any of you have a "trading" role and what other responsibilities you have that person manage outside of trading? With our current volume of trading, managing trades alone wouldn't be a full time position. Thanks!

We do! We actually identified a CSA who has incredible attention to detail and learns quickly. She handles all approved trades, as well as all money movement and other CSA duties (opening accounts, etc.). Our Wealthbox workflow goes from Trade proposal (advisor) > Trade approval (lead planner) > Trade execution (CSA). The CSA is free to make a few adjustments for market fluctuation, but also has the option to go back to the approver or proposer if there are bigger issues. She hasn't made a trading error since we started this process.
Wealthbox vs Redtail
For anyone who left Redtail to move to Wealthbox, was there anything that you miss about Redtail? Is any functionality missing at Wealthbox? What has been the downside, if any, about moving to Wealthbox? Does Wealthbox have the ability to use workflows and tasks as well as Redtail? Thank you.

We haven't looked back! One of the only things I miss, though, is tags vs Keywords. I think Redtail has the upper hand when it comes to reporting on keywords (a yes/no on reports) where Wealthbox let's you filter by tags, but if you pull them on a report, lists all of them,
Transitioning from RedTail to Wealthbox
We are officially beginning the transition from Redtail to Wealthbox! If anyone has gone through this process before, please share any tips or insights that will ensure all our information is successfully transferred. Thanks in advance.

Hello there! We just made the switch in December. In regards to Kate's #1 (hi, Kate!), we did not realize that our archived information (old emails and addresses) would carry over and clutter things up. It listed all of that old information as current. Now we have some cleanup to do (and some apologies for Holiday cards that got sent to the wrong addresses). If I could go back, I would have talked to them about putting archived information in as a note (so we don't lose the history). It can be difficult to compare reports from RT to WB, especially for emails and such, since WB gives you one column with the primary email and then lumps all of the others together in another column separated by a comma. Fun! I have a call with WB tomorrow about how they are going to help clean this up on the backend. Also, recurring tasks don't convert with the recurrence schedule. They will provide you with a list; however, if you use a lot of recurring tasks like we do, buckle up. That list included all of our recurring tasks, even if the series was already completed/stopped. We ended up just completing all of our past dues before the conversion date and then re-added all our recurring tasks. I hit the high score on our new WB Dashboard report for "tasks created in the last 7 days." To help with the recurring task cleanup, make sure all of your users DON'T have anything in past due on the day of coversion. Then you can have the migration team close any old series that migrated over in one big swoop. Best of luck!
