3I-Atlas--the extraterrestrial asteroid--is coming.
It's amazing to me that this channel could pull together a 31 minute video on this topic full of goofy graphics. But I thought this was interesting and thought I should share it. What do you think about this sort of long-from content on astronomy. Good for generating sincere interest, or not? Let me know. Shawn

The object did not 'alter its course' (how would that be possible? - it must follow Kepler's laws). It did not 'worry scientists'. And it is not "heading toward earth." Sensationalist nonsense, cobbled together for clicks/ratings.
Is the Process of Scientific Research Broken?
Sabine Hossenfedler used to produce great informational content. She is a Ph.D. level physicist who has some really solid chops. She left academia for the same reason that a lot of us did (and do), because she became highly disillusioned by academia. Recently she's become one of the more controversial YouTubers, if not a downright pariah, for her sharp criticisms of the process through which papers get published, and the questionable reliability of fields of science that hold themselves to what she argues are questionable standards. You can love her or hate her. But we ignore her at our peril.
