Hello
Hi all, I am located in the ski town of Mammoth Lakes, CA in the U.S. My background is in sales and have been learning as much as I can about AI. I am currently working on building inbound AI voice agents for small businesses in my area. I have a friend that is a local hair dresser and hoping to do a test case soon and just waiting on getting approved by Twilio so we can do text messages. I look forward to learning what everyone is up to. Take care.

Thanks. I originally was using Zapier, but that seemed even more expensive than Make. I think If I start learning the basic concepts they will be transferrable to other tools. Understanding Triggers and Mapping seems to be really important at the beginning. I think learning these tools in general will be a lot more important than just learning the AI voice agents. I am also skeptical of AI voice agents as a business. I think I could get some quick wins in my area, but don't see it as a long term viable business. I have seen two youtube videos where people are teaching AI voice agents and then trying to get people to use their plug and play workflows. This is a great idea for them since they are essentially getting free salespeople. This would also be great for a beginner like myself who is experienced in sales, but I do not want to depend on someone's technology if it is under my business. I would however consider selling their product if I did not have any liability.
Advice on Voice Agent
Hey guys. I'm looking for some advice. I have developed a voice agent for my page. I did it with the Gemini 2.5 Live API, and it is on the Google Cloud server, and it is working quite well as far as I've tried it. It captures the leads and then sends me an email. I have added the form option to capture the lead instead of voice since there may be misunderstandings with just voice, and on my tests it worked quite well. This is running on my $20 Google Pro account, and the API is pay-as-you-go with a nice free tier. It was much harder to set up than it would be with Retell or any other tool, but also it is cheaper. I would like to have some opinions on how it performs and some suggestions on how much I could charge to build this for clients. Or if this is just silly and I should be using voice agent tools? If anyone cares to help, I would be appreciative.

Sorry, but I am still not understanding how this is a voice agent. I is like voice to text as if you are talking to a chatbot?

I came across a video last night and now understand what you are doing. Very cool. I thought the Gemini voice agent sounded really good.
Looking for a sales partner 💰
Looking for a sales partner 💰 Looking for a sales partner 💰 I build AI calling receptionists for: 🏥 Medspas 🦷 Dental clinics 💈 Barbershops 💆 Beauty clinics The AI picks up calls and books appointments automatically — even at 2am. I just need someone to find the clients and close the deal. I handle everything else. You get 40% of every deal you close. One time per client. No cap on how many you close. 🔥 No tech knowledge needed. Just good communication and connections. I'll give you a full demo + script so closing is easy. Interested? Comment below or DM me 👇

Just curious, are you paying 40% of the set up fee or also a portion of the monthly?

I am not sure if that model will work real well for you since in many cases you will need to discount the set up in an area to build a track record and get references. The real money seems to be in the monthly recurring billing. Hope it works out for you though.
Did I just expose Vapi's high pricing
I’m 19, not some hardcore telecom engineer, and I just built a fully custom low-latency AI voice receptionist for a client that’s nearly 90x cheaper than relying on expensive voice AI wrappers like Vapi. Honestly… did we just expose how overpriced some of these platforms are? The stack:• LiveKit• Deepgram Nova-3• Gemini 2.5 Flash• Cartesia Sonic-2• Modal• n8n• Vobiz SIP telephony This wasn’t just another AI chatbot. The system:• answers real phone calls• handles multilingual conversations• interrupts naturally• captures leads automatically• extracts emails from noisy calls• triggers backend automations• runs with extremely low latency One of the funniest problems:The AI once heard:“harsha242404@gmail.com” as:“twofourtwofourzerofour@therategmail.com” Ended up building custom spoken-email normalization logic just to make email capture reliable over phone calls. And honestly, n8n was one of the smartest decisions in the stack. Because voice AI systems don’t stop at conversations. You eventually need:• CRM integrations• lead routing• webhooks• follow-ups• notifications• scalable workflows Feels like we’re entering a phase where more builders realize they can create custom voice AI infrastructure with better control, lower latency, and dramatically lower costs instead of depending entirely on expensive plug-and-play platforms. Curious:Do you think custom voice AI stacks will eventually replace most voice AI SaaS platforms?

That is so impressive.
How AI can ruin your outreach
When I first started cold email for my AI automation agency, I thought personalisation just meant mentioning something from their LinkedIn or website. But after a while I realised everyone else was doing the exact same thing. If you’re automating outreach with AI, chances are hundreds of other people are pulling the exact same LinkedIn data and using the exact same type of openers. So even though the email looks “personalised”, the prospect has probably already seen something similar 10 times before. What actually started getting me replies was finding information people weren’t expecting me to know. So I put together a quick guide breaking down how I approach research and personalisation now so your emails stop sounding like every other AI-generated cold email in their inbox. You can access it here, hope it helps 👍

I get Linkedin messages all of the time and the personalization is completely off. I don't like automated messaging for outreach, but use AI to help create campaigns and sequences. I created a CustomGPT that I can cut and paste a linkedin profile and it will write an email for that person. I don't use it, but just tried it out for fun.
