C64 floppy disks
Hey guys, question for you all still using floppies. I switched over to the Pi-zero to use to load games and I've always said it's a good compromise allowing you to use the original C64 but without the loading problems. Having said that.... my 1541-ii drive sitting in the cupboard gathering dust which I thought was a shame so dug it out and all working good, but if you use the wrong disk it deposits a load of crap onto the heads so I was wondering whether you guys have a supplier of new disks that are reliable as I would love to transfer some of my favourite games to actual disk and use it again. Tried cleaning a few but let's say that didn't go too well. Had a look on Ebay and Amazon but some of the prices that used disks are going for...😱 think I'd rather invest the money in another Pi which has an hdmi out so i don't need to use the built in pi1541 loaded.... thoughts?

Games with a difficult “in”
Which games hide their greatness behind either a high initial difficulty level, unintuitive control or complexity meaning somebody who played the game for 5 mins (especially if they had no instructions) would dismiss it as a bad or average game not giving it chance for its strengths to shine through? I know @Phil Wheatley mentioned Wizball in his latest Zzap review video as an example of game that would be easy to give up on when you are just bouncing around until after you get the first couple of power ups it’s true genius shines through! A game I recently got an original copy of was New York City and I’ve had this game for years not knowing what to do and now I have the instructions and know what to do it’s a fun little game. Any other games you can think of that people should invest time that have that difficult initial “in”?

Last Ninja has to be in there. People just couldn't get past the jumping bits and at first, controlling Armakuni can be a little frustrating. It's definitely worth mastering, though. It has some beautifully designed levels and one of the greatest C64 soundtracks.
Commodore 1901 monitor
Does anyone else own one of these? I recently picked this up locally for the bargain price of £30. I’d not heard of it before and only bought it after a 1701 monitor I had bought fell through. After a bit of research found out it was released for use with the C128 but works fine with the 64 using Luma/Chroma. I’m really pleased with it and goes well with my C64G.

Sorry. Had a family bereavement and had to sort a funeral. Hopefully get time to make some soon. I can do them for a fiver, including UK postage. Let me know if you're interested.

@Peter Badrick so sorry mate. If it's unexpected, it hits even harder. As soon as I've sorted some out I'll let you all know. Thanks. 👍🏻
