Just a general post about how to look after your gloves after seeing a comment on another post about not washing new gloves. I’m a parent of a young goalkeeper, but have been a goalkeeper since I was a child and still play every week now in my 40s. 🚨 Always wash your new gloves before use. It removes any chemicals from the manufacturing process and actives the latex. Washing new gloves makes them grippier. Also try not to let your gloves dry out. Latex degrades quickly if left to dry out and will crack and degrade much quicker, reducing grip and the life of your gloves. Wash your gloves after each use too as bacteria build up will also result in your gloves degrading quicker, if not washed after use. These simple steps will help you get the most out of your gloves, maximising grip and the life of your gloves. Use lukewarm water and an appropriate glove wash. Do not use regular soap. Dry naturally and do not dry in the sun or over a radiator. Try not to let them fully dry out. Ivor just got these new gloves. Washed this morning and will be ready for their first outing tomorrow night in a friendly. Happy goalkeeping! 🧤
