2025 Skate Goals Update 🛼
Thanks to my new skate friend @Kita Morris for getting me out of my house and going to skate lessons at a local rink. I had a great time and have my homework on what to drill before the next class #stopping #singlelegbalance #offskatepractice

Hey Sk8ers! What’s your must-have song for an adult skate night experience?

Right now it's Beyonce Renaissance because I can listen all the way thru. I saw this suggestion in IG comments that I will be adding to my playlist. It's a Deep House version of Lou Rawls You'll Never Find.

Powerdyne, laces style & toe cover
I grabbed a powerdyne tool & toe cover for my skates. I also loosen my trucks a bit after watching multiple videos on bubbles & if you need to tighten or loosen. I felt official using the tool 🤣😅 I also looked at different ways to lace up skates & went with the wide toe box option. all the changes felt better when I gave it a try. I'll know fully for sure when I go to class again tomorrow. Will be grabbing some wrist guards shortly also.

Mastering Fundamentals Is The Real Shortcut📈
Have you ever tried to learn a new move like a spin, pivot, or slide—and no matter how hard you tried, it just wouldn’t click? There’s a simple reason why this keeps happening. What if I told you the problem isn’t with the move but with your foundation? It’s easy to want to skip straight to the cool stuff—the flashy spins, smooth JB footwork, or some Snapping & pivots. (My favorite btw😊) I used to believe I was so good I could teach anyone an advanced move, even if their fundamentals weren’t solid. But every time I did this… The skater struggles. The move looks shaky and inconsistent. They leave feeling like there’s been no progress. They need to understand a few fundamentals, and then it would come much easier. Concepts like: WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION 1. Practice Bubbles Like This 2. This tight rope exercise requires TONS of precision to do correctly 3. Or weaving like this EDGE CONTROL 1. Full Edge control tutorial and breakdown (Intermediate Course) 2. Single Leg Edge Control WEIGHT TRANSFER 1. Crossing over is one of the first techniques that matters a lot when doing PROPER POSTURE 1. Falling correctly 2. Basic Skate Posture These are the fundamental pillars that I teach through. You see how these 4 are not about moves but the broader concepts that are at play as we progress and learn more complex techniques.

I'm working hard on my single leg balance. I know it's what is holding me back from progressing.
How do you know if your boots are working for you, or are too loose?
I've had a pair of Sure-Grip boardwalks for about 2 years now, I swap out my wheels for indoor and outdoor, and they're pretty well broken in. I've just started trying to learn some more difficult stuff for me (pivots and toe manuals) and I can't tell if my lack of balance is from a loose skate or a leg that needs to get stronger. Any thoughts? (Pic: the skates in question)

@Isaac Warren I've had my Riedell's for a while and they still are not comfortable. The leather is super tough in my opinion. My Sure Grips are much more comfortable on my foot even when they were new.
