Student Aid Index
My kid is Junior now and I am a W2 employee with high income. Assuming that colleges would look at 2025 taxes as my kid would apply in 2026 for 2027 year in college Any Strategies to Legally Reduce Your FAFSA EFC (Expected Family Contribution also called as Student Aid Index) so as to qualify for the college funding?
Lower tax on W-2 income
Outside of the STR, what are the other strategies that can help lower the taxes on W-2 income?

Thank you, Ryan The ones in the first list are all being done. Oil and Gas Syndication Investments and Donor Advised Funds (Gifting appreciated stocks) I believe Oil and Gas will get the deduction for drilling costs, depletion allowance but I have not found any that will really provide benefits. Invested in couple but none are really profitable. Ex: 100K invested and got like 30K in tax benefit but remaining 70K was to be recouped from the oil produced and sales and that is very speculative and not a great success rate Similarly, the DAF. Appreciate your comments on oil and gas and DAF
