Publishers rarely create demand. They respond to demand. Authors who already reach readers significantly increase their chances of being noticed by larger players in the industry. That is precisely why platforms such as Pinterest, blogs, newsletters, podcasts, and niche communities are often more valuable for authors today than spending years hoping for approval from traditional publishers. I recently joined Pinterest and have started building an audience there. Rather than promoting my books directly, I use thematic and visually engaging pins to attract readers who are interested in the ideas, worlds, and topics behind my projects. My goal is to create value first, build genuine interest, and let curiosity lead people to my work naturally.
