✨ How I Write ✨ 👈 Such a great Podcast
How I Write is my favorite writing podcast right now. David Perell interviews top writers about their creative process. It's too good; there is so much to learn here. I love a lot of the writers he has on the show; he asks great questions, & the writers give away so much value. Definitely worth checking out 👉 How I Write

BIG NEWS! 🥳 🎉
Starting this Sunday, WRITERS is officially going paid! This is something I've been working toward for a while, and it means I'll be able to invest even more into this space! 🌟More resources 🌟More tools 🌟More support 🌟& more value for all of you! Before anything else, I want to make sure you know: you are grandfathered in.🥇 As an existing member, you'll keep lifetime FREE access, no strings attached, now or ever. This change is about welcoming new members in a sustainable way, not about asking more of the people who've already been here from day one. And most importantly, I want to say THANK YOU! 💛🧡 The energy, engagement, and support you've brought to this community from the start is the reason it's been able to grow & will continue to. None of this happens without you.💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡 & One more thing: if you have friends who are into writing, now's a great time to invite them in! They can join before Sunday's changes take effect, and honestly, having more voices and perspectives in here only makes this space better. The more the merrier! 🥳 🥂 Thank you for being here from the beginning. Here's to what's next. 🙌

📖 AUTHOR STORY 📖 Hugh Howey: Bookstore Clerk to Bestseller 🤩
Talk about an unconventional career. 🌟 Before becoming an author, Hugh wore many hats, working over the years as a yacht captain, a computer repairman, and much more. During a stint as a bookstore clerk, he began writing his first novel in the store's backroom. 👌 Rather than going down the traditional publishing route, he took the road less traveled and self-published his novel through Amazon KDP. 💰 His sci-fi novel, Wool, was a runaway success, and thanks to the fact that he retained most of his revenue as an indie publisher, he was soon making $100,000 a month on Amazon sales alone. Interest in his first book led to sequels and a six-figure book deal with Simon & Schuster. Howey only sold his print rights and turned down much more lucrative deals in favor of retaining his ebook rights and the freedom to self-publish them as he wished. 🤩 📺 Recently, he’s added a TV show to his list of accomplishments with SILO, a big-budget Apple TV adaptation of Wool. Straddling the line between traditional and independent publishing, Howey has managed to get the best of both worlds.

@Christa Karim writing Insights Part Four: Publishing Your Book😎 https://hughhowey.com/writing-insights-part-four-publishing-your-book/ https://hughhowey.com/about/
📖 AUTHOR STORY 📖 Lisa Genova: Selling From the Trunk of a Car
🧠 Neurologist-turned-writer Lisa Genova wrote 'Still Alice', a novel about early-onset Alzheimer's disease. & After receiving countless rejections from literary agents, she chose to self-publish. Genova actively networked by handing out books from the boot of her car, speaking at local support groups, and relentlessly reaching out to bloggers and grassroots organizations. 🌟 Her DIY marketing eventually led to a major publishing deal, and the book was adapted into an Oscar-winning film starring Julianne Moore! 🧐 My Takeaway: Don't wait! Take your future into your own hands. Post online, reach out to people, build connections, sell books out of your car! Id you build your own hype you're more likely to catch the eye of the major industry players.

Publishers rarely create demand. They respond to demand. Authors who already reach readers significantly increase their chances of being noticed by larger players in the industry. That is precisely why platforms such as Pinterest, blogs, newsletters, podcasts, and niche communities are often more valuable for authors today than spending years hoping for approval from traditional publishers. I recently joined Pinterest and have started building an audience there. Rather than promoting my books directly, I use thematic and visually engaging pins to attract readers who are interested in the ideas, worlds, and topics behind my projects. My goal is to create value first, build genuine interest, and let curiosity lead people to my work naturally.
