Opening My Heart to the IDG Community
Greetings everyone! I'm very happy to have recently joined the IDG at work group and to participate/ contribute to the IDG mission. I live in the U.S., in a small New England town in Massachusetts that borders New Hampshire. We (my husband and I, our 5 dogs, 3 goats and one cat) moved 3000 miles across the U.S. to live here 4 years ago, after a climate change-related wildfire destroyed our small town in southern Oregon. It destroyed over 3,000 homes and our downtown in a couple of hours. I was already a strong environmental activist before that but that event really galvanized my determination to work towards climate regeneration and community organizing with other spirited people. My coaching focuses on leadership and small business development centered around relational systems thinking, conscious leadership, and regenerative business and community development. My WHY is to participate in the creation of inter-connected webs of people, organizations, and town leaders who can work together across the miles to create safe, thriving, environmentally regenerative communities. I've been so fortunate to have had so many wonderful career experiences to bring to this effort. I began as a wildlife veterinarian working for the US Fish and Wildlife Service , then became a veterinary pathologist focusing on neuroscience, then moved into theology and spiritual leadership, then into marriage and family therapy work and now I'm using all I've learned and am continuing to learn to join hands with others who love life and mother earth. I will have much to learn and be in awe of as I journey with you. Peace be upon you Karen Roertgen

Hi Karen, Welcome onboard. Good to see you in this group ๐Ÿ˜‰
In search of a fellow coach
Hi everyone. I am reaching out in the hope that someone here can connect me. ๐Ÿ˜Š At the Unconference in Stockholm this year, there was ONE lady from South Africa. I did not get her name, but may have a coaching client for her. If you know whom I am talking about (I know, not much to go on), I would be grateful for her name and contact info. ๐Ÿ˜Šโ™ฅ๏ธ

Challenges Session - What happened this week in our community
Here's a short video recap (2m32s) of the week including highlights are our community Challenges call, new IDG Measurement members who joined our community and the Ecologies follow up. 30 community members joined our Challenges call from 13 countries - we are better together ๐ŸŒ In our 60minute session we worked together in small groups to get to know each other a little better and share around our challenges and our needs. The recording is not that lively because a lot of the work was done in breakout circles, individual reflection time and learnings in the chat. Here is the synthesis of our first community call on the IDG challenges call as promised: ๐ŸŒŸ Bringing the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) to Life in Work and Beyond ๐ŸŒŸ As we reflect on our recent discussions, the path to integrating IDGs into personal, leadership, and organizational development emerges with inspiring possibilitiesโ€”and pressing challenges. Here's what we uncovered and what we need to take the next steps: Challenge 1: Applying the IDGs Framework to Personal Development Whatโ€™s Needed: - Role models, role modeling and relatable success stories to inspire others. - Experiential learning opportunities like facilitated dialogue and reflection. - Deeper connection to IDG dimensions, aligning values with actions. - Practices like silence and deep listening to foster inner growth. Key Insight: Creating environments for reflection and experimentation is critical. The journey isnโ€™t finiteโ€”itโ€™s an infinite practice of embodying the IDGs. Challenge 2: Adoption and Engagement and Buy-In of the IDG Framework Whatโ€™s Needed: - Compelling narratives that connect inner development to tangible business outcomes like sustainability and long-term success. - Tools and strategies to engage skeptical audiences and resistant cultures. - Success stories and proof points tailored to different markets. - Practical integration into existing programs to ease adoption. Key Insight: Bridging inner work with external outcomes requires aligning IDGs with current priorities and using relatable, real-world examples to build confidence and trust.

thank you, Nadene for the summary. So much easier to relate to compared to text.
When you hug someone....
I found this photo of a text on my desktop today. Donยดt remember where it is from, but it tugged so hard at my heart strings, that I just have to share it with you. Perhaps be courageous from tomorrow morning, and follow the intention of the message below. It will lead to the most powerful moment of your - I promise.

How did you live into the IDGs at Work this week?
I just finished facilitating a Dare to Lead cohort and am grateful and so inspired by their -curiosity to step into their inner development -self compassion, -learning that itโ€™s ok to be in a state of not knowing, -deeper connection to their values and -willingness to allow and feel into their emotion listening to their hearts and bodies. What IDG thoughts are you taking into the weekend?

Maybe not at work, but today I got approached by a guy trying raise money for UN Refugee help. 30 sec in, I told him "you have already lost me. You are just rattling off information. Speak from your heart" He looked at me like I was half crazy :-) Then took a deep breath and soon he was in his head again. I interrupted him and asked "Why are you here, doing this work, why is this important to you". His heart went into action, and he ended up getting the donation from me he had hoped for....and hugged me for getting him to bring out his heart's message.
