Because of the high temperatures during the heat wave earlier in the year, this beetle succumbed to the high 40s that we had in the greenhouse and I’d forgotten that I’d kept him until today. I did a couple of stacks with auto function on the Z9 but this was a 40 shot stack done with a focus rail and the 2:1 100mm laowa lens. Obviously in hindsight I should have probably done double that amount but I can do that next time

@Robert Walter to be honest when you look in daylight it appears to be blue. It could be a slight cast given off by the light!

@James Duncan cheers
Give it a go.
After seeing all the fantastic images on the challenge last week It gave me the inspiration to give it a go, I wanted to try out the in camera focus stacking on my R6 which didn't go very well so resorted to single shot, where the focus stacking needs auto focus I resorted to using a 12mm extension tube with my old ef 24-105 L lens, I did a couple of stacks with different apertures the takeaways were 1. should of used a timer 2. should of found a better subject, the image came out but had a lot of haloing which I assume was from the camera shake. I needed to find a better background but the most important one would be to give myself more time to play and look at the scene. The first image was a 15 image stack set to 4 increments. The second image is the single shot which I lit with a torch as I left the small rig light at work, I opted for shooting at F4 for this one to remove more of the distractions from the background.
Give it a go.

@Lee Churchill yes. I ordered a shutter release this evening for that very reason. I had a 2 second timer on but was still worried there could be residual shake from pressing the button so for the sake if £13 it’ll bring piece of mind

@Lee Churchill i looked at that first and it was not connecting and thought I cant be bothered trying to connect out in the field so will get the release

There were many of them, heading up a tree towards some mushrooms. No chance of getting a stack. This single shot turned out nicely, though. @Peter Boswell (following up your impressive stack of the same species w/ purple highlights).

@Robert Walter yes you can just picture it in the animated movie Cars looking just like that 🤣🤣
Nature's perfect sleeping bag.
I was lucky enough to catch this little guy napping right inside the flower. To be honest I kinda woke him up. Someone need to guess what He/She was trying to say me......🤣 It was quite chalenging to shoot. Beacuse, the weather was extremely windy and rapidly jumping sunlight from f/1.8 to f/11...😄...if you know what is that mean. Canon EOS R50V Canon EF 40mm f/5.6 1/2000sec ISO 1600

Nice. The type of shot where 3 hands would a distinct advantage 🤣
There's always something smaller...
