I was introduced to IBC through the Banking with life podcast. I was searching YouTube for something along the lines of "family bank" or "how to create generational wealth" after watching a Sunday Morning story about a family that had started a "family only" credit union. I listened to every episode they had posted at the time. which lead me to the Lara Murphy report, where I did the same. I then bought and read BYOB and How privatized banking really works and, at some point while reading BYOB, I remember slamming the book down in frustration that we weren't taught this earlier in life. I then went to the NNI web page to see if there were Practitioners in my area. I found one that was close enough we could meet face to face. I would say this was about a 4 month period. There was only 1 introduction and I think I caught it fairly quickly, mostly because my dad taught me how to take secured loans from my savings accounts in my early 20's.
