6 lessons I learned from my angel investing round - Closing by Sept 1
Previously, I emailed you that I am currently fundraising for my Financial education start-up - Investing Accelerator. This is now coming to a close - September 1 Problem: 45-65 individuals who have no financial background want to retire earlier and generate more monthly passive income for retirement Solution: The educational program called Investing Accelerator is born. We focus on helping 45 - 65 individuals who want to retire by teaching them how to generate monthly passive income and use long-term investing strategies to multiply their return. So far, we have helped 500+ students and have over $1M+ in revenue. Here's the link to the video: https://5mininvesting.com/fund-raising-round/ Fundraising result: $800K USD with another $200K in the pipeline The share price is $10 USD per share. Lessons learned along the way: Overall, this is a great exercise for myself and my team. #1 - As we all know, fundraising isn't easy as the requirement is for an individual to be an accredited investor in their country (e.g. $200K in income or $1M+ in net asset excluding their home) #2 - Initially, I went through a lot of work to enable IRA accounts to be invested in the company. Ultimately, there are many additional hurdles that prevent people from investing using IRA accounts. From now on, anyone who uses an IRA account will require a USD 1,000 application fee (non-refundable) just because of how difficult it is. #3 - The dilemma of angel investing is as I expected. Angel investing is the earliest stage of a startup. It has the highest risk (despite the company being profitable already) and also the highest potential reward - share price being the lowest. Getting the initial few angel investors are crucial to making your company work. Once we head into the next round of raising $20M, angel investing will be much less important as it is difficult to find 200 angels to invest versus finding only 4 institutional investors for $5M each

Here you will see part of the account statement after I implemented Version 4 of the strategy for my index fund portfolio (plus a few big tech stocks). AAPL +$117,487.86 GOOGL +$20,555.82 LULU +$28,548.28 MSFT -$22,781.95 Plus my index fund positions are not closed yet. LULU is an one-off position for this portfolio as I happened to capture that earning move. Cheers, Eric ------- Eric Seto Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Founder of 5MinInvesting.com Free webinar - how to get 30%: https://5mininvesting.com/free-case-study/ In June, my goal is to help 10 people without a financial background to master investing. Great results and thanks for sharing.
What's your favourite investing tip?
Since we are all here learning, let's share your favourite investing tip in the comments below. Here's my favourite: To make money, you don't need to be faster than the machine learning hedge funds but you just need to be more accurate. Explanation: Investing is not about being reactive to the market. If you plan ahead, do your analysis, you will make money even if you focus on the higher timeframes (bigger picture).
