PartsTech or Nexpart integration?
For those of you using that have used both, which one do you like better? PartsTech was the shortest path to ground when I set things up. It seemed easier to setup and just worked. Nexpart took some fenagling and I eventually just threw in the towel when PartsTech started working out. I'm thinking to setup PartsTech and run both side-by-side for a while. Just looking for a compelling reason to put out the effort on another parts tie in.

Module programming
I was watching your video on module programming services and I was wondering what equipment is needed for brands other than ford? I have my computer and VCM2 still from when I worked there and I’m HOPING I won’t need much more physical equipment. I spent a lot of time programming modules when I was at Ford and the number of times I’ve had to tell customers I can’t program modules at this time is driving me insane. Edit: I’m sure there will be tons of licenses to pay for, but I’m not sure what the best approach is for people in our position who approach multiple brands.

I can't get the VCMI2 to work at all with wiTECH2. Does anyone here use the CarDAQ3?
Question
Do you have to have a Repair Dealer license and register with the BAR to run an Automotive Mobile Repair Service? R just a business license to run the business

@Jason Hughes Yes, even as a mobile mechanic, you do need to register with the BAR. And that requires you to have insurance. On the bright side, you don't need to post that big metal sign in your shop with your labor rate like the brick and mortar shops do.
1 Year journey of owning a mobile repair company
Hello guys my name is Lyle I own AHQ AUTO CARE i want to take the time to share my journey of owning my very first business. Been in business for almost a year i work out of my car Prius c. It was a very very long journey getting started between tools licensing etc. I was scared i had people doubt i couldn’t do it. I took a fully year to buildup tools jacks etc. I found BEN on TikTok i watched him for a while. I reached out to him about licensing he walked me thru where to go THANK YOU AGAIN BEN. Did a few jobs to buildup some cash to get the licenses for my state. Registered thru sunbiz EIN BOI then I got my estimate/invoice form with a MV number thru Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Went to the parts store opened a company account to get parts etc on a discount prices. I got laid off from my main job I put my head down went full in I made 5k when I was out. in may purchased a very nice Autel scanner MaxiCOM MK900-BT/MK900B. I got my sales/used tax resale certificate for sales tax keep in mind you have to renew every year did my sales tax’s form (DR-15) I do e file & e payment. Then I worked on getting business insurance Coverages Auto Services, Garage Liability Garagekeepers General Liability. I have shop software thru alldata now. For all the new people I know it scared to make that first step into something that you can call yours you have full control mind you the freedom you have. It was a long journey but it’s worth every second. If you guys have any questions I am happy to help.

Excellent. Great story. Mash down on that gas pedal and keep going. Yeah, for me, getting the insurance figured out was bit of a headache. It's more of a hassle than it needs to be because you can't go direct with most carriers and you have to go through a broker. And most of the brokers are clueless as to what you actually need. Not sure if you've hit it yet, but getting my Google Business listing was even more painful as a mobile business.
Drive time.
Question, what's the option on charging for drive time as opposed to not? I know a few that do but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere here. If you think you should what would be fair to charge?

I don't add a mileage or distance charge for calls within my service area. Here in California, you need a business license for each incorporated city that you work in and just a county business license for the rest of the unincorporated towns in the county. If I go outside of my service area, which means 40+ minutes driving each way, I do charge a flat fee, depending on where I have to drive to. I make sure the charge is clear, separate and fair.
