Swedish Youth championship - nerves won
Daughter had qualified for the Swedish youth championship, 100,200 backstroke and relay 4x100im. She did worse then ever. She gets afraid when heartbeats rises and breathing gets hard. She has some type of self protection mechanism that tells her that she can’t breathe. 200 she fell through, chin dropped, legs were something just hanging. When she qualified she wasn’t even out of breath when finish..she has so much more to give but no one seem to be able to get her to push through it. She would have made the final in the evening if she just had pushed. she recently switched teams as the old coach couldn’t give a sh*t about her. New coaches got her to qualify in less then a month.. still not pushing herself. That’s why I say she has so much more to give. She puts a lot of pressure on her self. I’m just trying to be a supportive dad (old swimmer) and biting my tounge not saying anything. What mental course can I sign her up to with swimpros? I believe she needs to have someone telling her about the mental tools and challenges. I’m sad because she is sad.

USRPT?
Maybe this has been discussed earlier. I guess this question/thoughts are for Rebecca, Yul and David. I've read and heard a lot about USRPT but it seems like few coaches dare to try it fully. (No one in Sweden at least) My daughter, BeeBee 13, almost quit swimming last year. It was a pain before every practice. Long story short, she changed swim club, new coaches that "see" her and now she is always ready before me to go to practice. They dont do USRPT but their practices reminds a little bit about it. The dropped 6 sec on 100 back, 5 sec on 100 free and so on since she switched club. So it seams like their training suits her beter. (Or perhaps she was overtrained before... 6 times a week + 2 gym sessions 2-3.5h every session) The USRPT has been said to keep swimmers in the "game" because it doesnt take 2-3 hours each practice. Young swimmer feels they have time for other things as well. The age 11-15 is a fragile time as they grow, enter puberty, friends are changing and so on. I know that Michael Andrews is a big fan of USRPT and talks about it a lot.

@Florian Sessler Yes, new club have very different type of training than before. She gets more "free" time and have improved a lot due to fixing technique.

@Florian Sessler I belong to the "old School" of training, I did my training in the 80s and 90s... Then it was all about distance and more distance. It was mad.. but thats how it was then. Im glad the practices have come a long way from that. The one thing Im happy about is to see my daughter now enjoying practice, coaches and swim friends between a lot of clubs.
⭐ WHAT IF... May 31st was the day your kid surprised you 🏊
What if your swimmer hit a PB at their next meet.. without the warmup-pool meltdown, the empty stare on the block, or the tears in the car ride home? That's exactly what most parents in this group came here for - and most of you haven't gotten it yet. Not because your kid isn't talented. Because nobody's teaching them the mental side. So here's what we're doing about it 👇 🚀 4-Week New Personal Best Sprint Starts May 10th, 7pm CET (6pm UK). Recordings included so life can happen. Last camp: 28 of 35 swimmers PB'd in their main race. On tired legs. Same physical load as every other camp.. different mental approach. That's what you get inside the Sprint. Here's how the 4 weeks break down: - Week 1 - World-Class Goal Setting Stop the wishy-washy "do your best" goals that make your kid shrug. By the end of week 1 your swimmer has a real PB target with the math behind it - and they actually believe it. - + 20min 1-1 with me or Yul right after week 1 to personalize the whole Sprint to your kid (limited to the first 20 sign ups) - Week 2 - Visualize Like a Pro (and actually do it) The night-before routine that gets your kid walking into the pool calm instead of spiraling. Most parents have heard "visualization." Nobody's ever shown your kid HOW. - Week 3 - Michael Phelps 4-2-8-2 + Advanced Mental Tools What your kid does in the 60 seconds before the whistle so they don't lose the race in their own head. This is the one I wish I'd had before starting with Michael Phelps' sports psych when I was 24y old. - Week 4 - Live Coaching & Support You bring your biggest blocker - whatever's been stuck for months - and we solve it live. Recordings if you can't make it. 🎁 Bonuses (all included): - All recordings so you can catch up if life happens — value $150 - SwimPros technique drills — the same ones we run at our camps that change everything for swimmers who come in person — value $150 - Rebecca's mobility course — faster underwaters, fewer shoulder issues — value $150 - Parent Mastermind, May 19th — what you can do at home that actually moves the needle (most parents are accidentally adding pressure without realizing) — value $100 - Screen Time Reducer Formula — 45min training, tips & tricks to help your swimmer spend less time on the phone — value $97

A few months ago, a mom messaged me after her daughter's regional meet. "𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦. 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥-𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥-𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰." Her daughter had been dropping time in training all season. Race day? She added 3 seconds to her PB. sometimes more :( And on the drive home, nobody spoke. I know that drive. I've been in that car - as the swimmer. Here's what I've learned after working with over 200 private clients and being an Olympian myself: It's not a talent problem. It's not a coaching problem. It's not even a nerves problem. It's a pattern - and it gets worse the longer you ignore it. The good news? You don't need to fix your kid. You need to understand what's actually happening so you can be the support system they need... without accidentally adding more pressure. That's exactly what I'm going to show you. -------------------- 𝗧𝗛𝗘 3-𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘 How to best support your swimmer - without adding any pressure. 📅 April 28 - 30 | 9:00 - 9:30 PM CET 📍 Live on Zoom ⏱ 3 x 30 minutes 🎁 BONUS Q&A session on May 1st Can't make it live? No problem. You get full access to the recordings for an entire week. Watch on your own time - it works just as well. -------------------- Here's what we'll cover in 3 days: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 1 - Why race anxiety isn't "just nerves" (and what's actually going on inside your swimmer's nervous system that nobody talks about) 𝗗𝗮𝘆 2 - The #1 thing parents do that accidentally makes pressure worse - and a simple shift that changes everything 𝗗𝗮𝘆 3 - The exact system we use with swimmers at Swimpros to build race-day confidence that sticks (not just a pep talk that wears off by warm-up) This is for you if: ✅ Your swimmer trains like a beast but races below their ability ✅ You've tried the "just relax and have fun" talk and it didn't work ✅ You feel helpless behind the fence on race day ✅ You're tired of the silent car rides home

3 inspiring evenings for a parent to a young swimmer. Coaches coach, parents are there for support and their number one fan. Would recommend this to any parent!
