I'm a big believer in investing in yourself. And I’m a big believer in investing in your coaching business… be that your skills as a coach but especially in increasing the skills of you as a business owner. Here’s the thing… Hopefully you are going to be a business owner for the rest of your life. When you're investing in yourself, if you're going to be a business owner for the rest of your life, your investment only needs to give you one small skill. When you implement that skill… and you use it for the rest of your life… it's going to give you a way bigger return on investment. As long as you've got the cash available, I think that investing in yourself is just one of the highest leverage things you can do. It's very baffling to me when people they're stuck… they need what somebody is offering… but they're not willing to risk it. They're not willing to take the risk because their time horizon is so short. They're thinking… “Is this going to pay off in the next 30 days, in the next 60 days, in the next 90 days?” When what they should be doing is, they should be thinking… “Is this going to pay off in the next 3 years, the next 10 years, the next 15 years?” “Am I going to be able to utilise these skills that I'm about to learn and is it going to give me more than my investment over the next 10 years?” Yes, it probably will. OK, cool… “Will it give me a massively outsized return compared to my investment?” Yes, it probably will. Making decisions on whether you should invest in yourself should be looked at a much longer time horizon than the vast majority of people do. If you can’t think that way yet… then it will be very hard to get clients to invest in you. You have to always be willing to invest in yourself. When we work with our best clients, there's always a really common theme amongst them… which is why they are generating 5 and 6 figures a month in revenue. They all have the exact same mentality… That is, if I can just learn one small thing from you…
