My running story
Hey everyone! I'm Heather, from Cochrane Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 I'm a lifelong runner, starting with runs with my Mom then leading to sprinting & track, when I was a teenager I stopped running for 4 years as I was diagnosed with endometriosis and didn't start running again until that felt managed. By my 20th birthday I was running again and with a new best friend, my dog. In this time I survived a violent DV situation. Not realizing that our daily 10k runs would lead me to understand I'm an endurance runner. I started to run half marathons (I now run marathons) in his honor while I was facing my own serious health battles. I know what it's like to show up during different phases of life, in a different body, with fear while managing a business. I also know what's on the other side of showing up - finding yourself! I'm 37 currently going on 38 so I've almost earned my master runner title! Happy to help in any way that I can, if anything I've learned along the way is going to help anyone - I feel that's why I learned it. Thanks for having me!

Being a runner with chronic illness/serious health issues is such a complex journey 💜. I can’t wait to learn more about your experiences!
Triathlon to the marathon
After many years of long and short course triathlons at 45 i decided if i would ever be able to complete the 140.6 Ironman i needed to give 26.2 a shot. I entered the Chicago lottery and like a million other didn’t get in so i selected Richmond in 2025 as my first. This race was my fathers first marathon back in the 80s and the town i grew up in so it was a great experience going back home for MFM. The training went amazingly with no injuries (goal #1) finished the race (goal #2) and just missed my last goal of sub 5 miles. I met you Taylor in the start corral and learned about the podcast. I’ve listened to nearly all the episodes now and enjoy it very much. Waiting for the registration to open for my second marathon in 2027.

This is such an awesome journey! The Richmond Marathon is definitely on my list to check out in the next few years!
Hey, what's up?
Hey there! I'm Colin from Portland, Oregon and I got started running in late 2023 after/during a weight loss journey. I've worked my way from run-walk to a mile to a 5K to 10K to Half Marathon to Marathon and I've learned to appreciate every piece of what makes up training and completing these goals we all have. One of my favorite things is making the running world feel smaller and less lonely for people from all over and I love cheering people on. While running is such an individual effort and achievement, it can get lonesome at times. That's why I'm so excited to be here-- to chat and interact about all things running and training. (I also read and watch an absurd amount of shoe reviews, so if you ever want to nerd out about that, I'm *always* down for that.)

Oooh love to nerd out about running shoes!
Greetings from Texas!
Hello runners! I'm so excited to be here to cheer for you on the journey to your first marathon! Making the decision to run a marathon is something to be super proud of, and you're in for an incredibly rewarding ride. You're already setting yourself up for success by putting your trust in Taylor, and I'm super grateful to her for creating this community! I started running in 2022, not long after getting diagnosed with and starting treatment for Crohn's Disease. I had been very sick for several years before diagnosis, so once things started to get better I knew I had to make the most of having a healthy body and get moving! My first race was a half marathon, and the moment I crossed the finish line I knew I had more in me and that I could push myself even further. I signed up to run my first marathon, did a ton of reading about training principles, and developed a plan. After months of training, I finished the Cowtown Marathon in February 2024 (on an 81 degree day...more on that another time). I learned so much while training for my first marathon, and those lessons have given me a solid foundation to build on for my subsequent marathons as I work toward my longterm goal of qualifying for Boston. I look forward to sharing what I've learned along the way and to learn from you all too!
