Omius cooling headband
Hi All, I am heading to Vietnam 70.3 in May which will be a little bit warm and I have always struggled in hotter conditions due to a variety of factors (6ft 4 and white as a loaf of bread being the primary ones). Interested to hear if anyone has used an Omius Cooling headband before and what their thoughts are on effectiveness. The head bands are not cheap and I am wondering if people who have bought them feel that the investment is worth the money or is it just more marketing hype playing on us triathletes always looking to have the latest and greatest 1% improvements. https://traininghouse.shop/products/omius-cooling-headband?variant=42175522504770

I’m Australia’s pastiest lifeguard and 6”1 and had no problems in Malaysia with all the ice baths at each aid station. They had big scoops and cups to make it easy to grab. I thought about those headbands but realised I can save $400 by just running a couple seconds slower 😂

Greggo is it better to feed a pineapple through to Genghis Khan or Zeus?
Ocean swimming
I’m taking a punt here but guessing that a few people in this group have a background in ocean swimming, be it through surf club or open water racing. Has anyone got any advice/views on ways to improve ocean swimming, changes to technique, things to be mindful of when the swell picks up so that we dont have to resort to “surviving the swim”?

My stroke rate definitely increases when the wind chop is coming from the side and head wind. Effort surges up and down way more than swimming in a flat lake or pool, when I can feel a wave/chop push me from behind I’m gonna do a little 2/3 second effort to get a better boost. Being able to breathe both sides is a helpful skill when the chop is coming sideways. But nailing the timing of all that in conditions such as cairns where u get all directions of chop around the swim course just takes a fair bit of time. I’m fortunate that I came from a surf club background so I love the swim carnage
