Is PSA still a valid option?
Im currently thinking about getting some cards graded and since PSA is opening an office in Frankfurt I thought about sending them there to grade it as soon as they start. But there have been numerous scandals with PSA, is it still a good idea to get them graded there? I've also read about CGC, what's your opinion on that? My concern is just that my cards don't get the grade they may deserve.

The current PSA grading system is broken because it relies too much on human bias and manipulative practices. The recent buyback scandal proved this, exposing how PSA undergraded customer submissions to a PSA 9, bought them back at a lower price through their app, and then magically upgraded those exact same cards to a PSA 10 for their own inventory. Whether they are aggressively controlling the population report to artificially pump up prices or just gatekeeping grades based on a grader's mood, the human factor is fundamentally flawed. While PSA only uses AI behind the scenes for basic authentication and edge checks, true AI-first companies like TAG and AGS level the playing field. Their high-res surface scans spot microscopic imperfections that a person completely misses, judging every single card by the exact same transparent, honest mathematical standard. It’s only a matter of time before traditional graders get left behind by collectors who demand absolute consistency.

@Jesse Kroon Wow, beautiful cards, but unfortunately outside of my budget. I try not to spend more than 500 euros per month on Pokémon singles and sealed products. The Cherry Blossom Afro Pikachu (SM-P 211) raw NM version went up almost 10x in the last 1.5 years, from $50 to $500!

Hey everyone, My name is Nikolai, I’m from Germany, and I’m happy to join this community! I started my Pokémon TCG journey about 2 years ago, so I still consider myself a "noob" in the learning process, but I’ve been loving every second of it. For me, this is the perfect mix of a passionate hobby and a long-term investment. I collect a mix of both English and Japanese sealed items (mostly Booster Boxes and special sets/ETBs). Lately, I have really fallen in love with buying singles. For these, I heavily prefer Japanese cards. The superior print quality, amazing texture, and better centering compared to Western prints just make them look incredible in a binder or slab. I try to balance my budget between safe, long-term sealed holds and buying the beautiful Japanese singles that I just want to admire as a hobbyist. I’m looking forward to learning from you guys, talking about market trends, and sharing our love for the cards! Cheers, Nikolai
