The reason for my consistent inner tension is caused by an inner conflict of lifestyles. I have 2 lifestyles (base frequencies) that I'm constantly feeding with time and attention, so I face tension when I live in either of them. Decide on your lifestyle and stick to it, reaffirm it, consistently. And whenever an "old lifestyle thought" catches your attention, notice and identify it, immediately return to presence and then shift your attention to the desired lifestyle. This simple way of looking at your behavior is the most powerful.
