Horror podcast
I'm happy to post that I've had my second horror story turned into a podcast at Creepypod.com. This one was called, "The Shape in the Shadow" (which was published first in Iridescence: The Second Dimension, published by Kinsman Quarterly on August 6, 2026 The broadcast from Creepy was on August 26th (but I just was made aware) :) This podcast has two stories on it and I truly enjoyed the first one. Mine came right after (at 22:40 if you wanted to skip right to it). Unpublishable to published?
I was very happy to get the news that one of my short stories, a horror western (an experiment I was trying) was finally accepted after over a dozen rejections. It's not a big payday in any way (a few bucks) but it felt good having someone like this story that so many had turned down.

INTRODUCTION POST

@Davi Mai Right now my dark fantasy novel (and a short story) are in the hands (the ever so long to wait for hands) of publishers and editors as I wait for a "yay" or "nay", but as soon as they free up I can share some of them with you all. I do have some sharable horror. @Davi Mai Thank you very much. I'm also claustrophobic and growing up, my father passed along his own fear of being buried alive to me. That's why I had to write "In the Dark"...exploring my own fears. I figure if my horror stories don't scare me, they aren't going to scare anyone else.😆

Random recollection (writing advice received)
Rather obnoxiously, way back when I wrote my first novella (A sci-fi by the name of "Defying Gravity"), I emailed it to a well known Australian author. They had zero reason to reply at all, let alone with advice. And yet they did. The advice was.... "Swap your first two chapters around. Your first chapter is boring, because I'm not invested in any characters. Your second chapter, with a character in peril, is a much better start, and a reader is more likely to make it through your info-dump afterwards." 🙂

That's very good advice. I try to start off my novels with some sort of action before diving into "what the heck is going on" with that same hope of catching the reader.
