Trialling Lecture 5 in the new 7-week series
Sorry for the lack of notice: too much to do. I'd appreciate an audience to give me some feedback on this draft.

The Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism
Anyone read this book? I just came across a few interviews with Monbiot explaining his definition of Capitalism, and Neo-Liberlaism (sometimes referring to Economics.) Is Madeira, the historical nexus point, or just the fluid, fuelling another distracting dialogue?

John Hearn explains why MMT is wrong!
Milton Friedman, the archbishop of monetarism, in his influential article “The Methodology of Positive Economics” argued that an economic theory is not to be judged by the realism of its assumptions but only by its predictive power. In this video “Professor” Hearn thinks that he’s destroying MMT by arguing that it has to be false because its assumptions are unrealistic. Here we’re dealing with an advocate of monetarism who’s attacking MMT on the ground that it’s founded on wrong assumptions! Irrespective of this methodological inconsistency, I wonder how seriously can someone take this person when he fails to understand that MMT only describes the operation of a contemporary fiat monetary system, and as such does not rely on any type of assumptions? If you listen to this junk, then throw it in the trash bin 🚮 https://youtu.be/QcIeZuatxnA?si=d_dm-xwyZG9tkiem

I started to play it, with no preconceived thoughts, Fist thing I thought was how grateful I am that, with Steve you have bookkeeping to store what's being said in places which need to add up, so you can keep the logic in check each step of the way. I continued listening in a more and more befuddled way, when he said there is no such thing as "cost push inflation" I tried to validate, by weighing up from experience, decided he was wrong and turned off. Was interested to see what other people thought. Glad, I am not alone.
