A look into my life
I feel compelled to share something about my life so I'll try. I was medically retired from the U.S Army in 2007 after 18 years of service. Three tours to Iraq and one to Somalia, Africa in 1993. I faught in each tour, as a medic I had two enemies, the other man and death that came for my brothers. If not for the love of God, my loving and patient wife and traditional archery, I would have ended the pain. Because of these three, loving God back, looking for honest ways to SHOW my wife that I love, respect and appreciate her and focusing on shooting my bows has over time shifted my looking at my past to getting better and seeking better and higher ways to improve the three loves of my life. God, Tonya my wife and all things traditional archery. Thank you for building this community. Much love for you all.

Man I cannot wait to be able to do this someday
How long should arrows be?
Hi! Getting my first bow, arrows, etc. I’m getting a black hunter bow, but not sure if there’s anything I should know about getting my first arrows. Like how long they should be (I’d this standardized? Based on draw length?) what type of arrowhead, etc. This is just for learning not hunting. Thank you all!

@Steven McGarey Oh wow. I had no idea how complicated this is. Ok maybe a better question is: what type of arrows should I use for target practice with a black hunter 30# recurve? I’m 6’ tall if that’s helpful. Spending less is good. Thank you!

@Jamie Robinson I think it’s 29.5 inches. Measure my wingspan at 73.5 inches and divided by 2.5. Thank you!
Bowhunting Harvest/Kill photo standards
Some posting rules to follow for the community. In anticipation of upcoming hunting seasons we are formulating some standards to follow for everyone to benefit from! Lessons learned from our Bowhunting experiences. More than just the kill.. but the total experience. 1- species - tells us about the hunt and species 2- where it was taken/bigwoods/farm/desert etc 3- how is was taken. Treestand/ground/stalking 4- scouting and hunt prep 5- recovery NO bloody kills shots/grip and grins straddling the animal/ arrows in the animal/ piles of animals etc Cheers! - Grant

This is really cool. I feel like this really helps me, a brand new hunter, understand what this code is all about. I really appreciate this group and this movement. The ethos is a huge part of what drew me here, but it’s really helpful to see how it’s specifically expressed like this
