I want to think diversity & representation focus like Open Waters by Caleb Azumah Nelson, which I found in Waterstones this summer and fell in love with, but someone I know in publishing told me that moment has now passed, so I don't know. :/ Think there's a popular subgenre - weird girl lit - which I'm totally for!
One of the hardest tasks, I know. Leave a one sentence summary of one of your pieces here for constructive feedback. And contribute your own assessments of the work of others.
@Jane D Ooh I like this - feel like it's hinting at being UpLit - which I'm really into atm! I agree with Issy about identifying and amplifying the tension.
@Yvonne McMillan Clear stakes and clear tension! Agree about the adjectives, especially opening few sentences - could strip out a couple without losing the claustrophobic feel
