Thank you for sharing this, Melvin. What a great reminder and deeper dive into this concept. This is something I came across in the context of parenting in a book called "Habits of the Household" that I read a couple of years ago. I've been trying to be more intentional about blessing my children, blessing my wife, my family, my house, everything in the context of my authority as a father. The other thought that comes to mind is this verse: “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/rom.12.14.ESV I think growing up I just assumed that not saying negative things was good enough. What Our Father has been teaching me, and what you're highlighting here, is that we can be proactive. Blessing is something that we should be proactively doing. This is a way that we can wield our words as a weapon. We can wield the truth as a weapon. We can wield our blessing as a weapon against the forces of darkness, against curses that have been spoken over us or that we may have spoken over our areas of influence in the past. Brings fresh meaning to this verse as well! “Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/1pe.3.9.ESV Thank you very much for this and the continued teaching that you're providing to us.
James 2:5-7
Hey @Melvin Pillay, hope you’re doing well bro. I’ve been studying the book of James and was reading verses 5–7 today, and I had a quick question. It’s essentially talking about how true wealth comes from our faith in Him—not material things or financial wealth—and how those who are poor in this world can be rich in faith. As I was breaking it down, I came across the idea that earthly wealth can sometimes create a false sense of security, which can lead to spiritual impoverishment. So I’m curious—for you, as God started to bless you financially, open doors in business, and give you opportunities to travel, were you ever tempted to boast in your own greatness? And how did you stay grounded and continue choosing to serve Him and His people?
