1 contribution to Caring and Sharing
Why I Created Caring and Sharing
Over the course of my life, I have had the privilege of working with people from many different backgrounds and professions. As a former Police Officer, business owner, trainer and community advocate, I have met individuals facing all manner of challenges and opportunities. One observation has remained constant. Most people prepare for the practical aspects of life. Far fewer prepare for the personal transitions that inevitably come our way. Retirement. Redundancy. Illness. Injury. Loss. Changes in family circumstances. The end of one chapter and the beginning of another. While there is often support available for financial planning, legal matters and administrative requirements, there is frequently much less support available for the questions that really matter: Who am I now? What gives me purpose? How do I stay connected? What contribution can I still make? How do I build a meaningful future? These are not questions that can be answered by a spreadsheet. They require reflection, encouragement, practical tools and, perhaps most importantly, hope. It was these observations that inspired me to create Caring and Sharing. The aim is simple: To provide practical books, guides and workbooks that help people navigate life's transitions with confidence, curiosity and purpose. At the heart of Caring and Sharing are a number of principles that guide everything we do. Our Principles Everyone Has More To Contribute Retirement does not mean becoming irrelevant. Redundancy does not define a person's worth. Illness does not diminish the value of lived experience. Every individual has knowledge, wisdom and gifts that remain valuable. Purpose Matters People thrive when they feel useful, connected and engaged. Purpose does not retire. It simply evolves. Connection Matters Human beings were never meant to journey through life alone. Relationships, community and belonging remain essential at every stage of life. Growth Never Ends There is always something new to learn. There is always another skill to develop.
