Still Needed
"One of the saddest things I hear from retirees is: 'I don't feel needed anymore.' I disagree. Experience, wisdom and life lessons are needed now more than ever."

The Retirement Myth
"Retirement is often sold as endless holidays and freedom. Yet many people tell me the hardest challenge isn't financial—it's finding purpose."

About Martin Stow
About Martin Stow Martin Stow is a former Police Officer, community volunteer, author, and Paul Harris Fellow with more than 36 years of Rotary service. Throughout his career and volunteer work, Martin has supported people facing some of life's biggest transitions, including retirement, redundancy, disability, isolation, and the search for renewed purpose. Now in his seventies and living with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Martin continues to contribute through community projects, writing, mentoring, and supporting others as they navigate the next chapter of their lives. His retirement and transition books were inspired by conversations with retirees, former colleagues, community members, and those struggling with the loss of identity and purpose that can sometimes follow the end of a working career. Martin believes that retirement is not the end of contribution—it is the beginning of a different kind of opportunity. His guiding philosophy is simple: "Kindness Costs Nowt, But It's Worth a Fortune."

"It doesn't Have To Be Big just do a Bit"
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Caring and Sharing community. This group was created around a simple belief: The world becomes a better place when ordinary people do ordinary acts of kindness. You don't need to be wealthy. You don't need to be famous. You don't need to lead a charity or save the world. Sometimes the smallest actions make the biggest difference. A phone call to someone who is lonely. Checking on a neighbor. Offering encouragement to a friend who is struggling. Sharing knowledge, experience, or simply a few kind words. Over the years, I have seen first-hand how communities become stronger when people look out for one another. Whether through Rotary, supporting farmers during drought, helping people through retirement, or simply being there when someone needs a hand, the lesson has always been the same: Kindness matters. So I'd like to start with a simple question: What is one small act of kindness that someone has done for you that you still remember today? Share your story below. It may inspire someone else to do the same. Thank you for being here and for helping build a community where caring and sharing are more than just words. Caring and Sharing "It Doesn't Have to Be Big. Just Do a Bit." 😊
