Current market and plays
Hey everyone, I would like to share my thoughts and wanted to have a discussion about the current state of teh market. I’ve noticed it’s getting increasingly difficult to find good and affordable sealed products with real potential. The market has exploded in 2025 – products sell out quickly, prices are way above MSRP and even (small) reprints seem to make investment outcomes less predictable. That’s why I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what sealed Pokémon products are currently the best investment opportunities in this current market. This could be recent sets, upcoming releases, or more niche items like special ETBs, promo boxes, or Japanese sealed products. A few questions I’d love to discuss: - Which recent or upcoming sets do you still see growth potential in? - What’s your view on the risks of reprints? - Are Japanese products a better play right now? - Are there alternative sealed items (like pin collections, holiday sets, etc.) that might be flying under the radar? Personally, I’ve been looking at 151(ETBS, boosterbundles), Prismatic evolutions (ETBS and bundles), and possibly some older Sword & Shield sets that are still somewhat accessible(Fusion Strike, Lost Origin, Chilling Reign, Astral RAdiance, Silver Tempest or Brilliant Stars). But I’d love to hear your strategies and opinions! I think reprints wont hurt as they used to like lost origin and fusion strike in de Sword and Shield era. They will dip maybe 20% but at what pricepoint are you prepared to pay for a BB? For me its around 150 euro for a BB (Journey and and Destined Rivals (maybe 160) In my opinion Japanese are a good alternatieve in this kind of boom market but English will always be preferred when the market is down. So i dont have allot of japanese myself (i have VStar uni and 151 bb) Looking forward to the discussion!

Hi, I think the best investments right now are 151, Prismatic Evolution, and Destined Rivals. Rushing to get them, also makes them more expensive. For example, I got the Journey Together box set for 120€, but I reserved it in December when the market wasn't so crazy. I got the ETB much later, through patience and waiting for Amazon to have it in stock. I also wait for notifications about products I'm interested in at a price similar to the MSRP.I'm not buying anything for more than 5-10€ off the MSRP. Stores are going crazy with their prices, often almost double their usual price. I'm a collector, not a millionaire, and I don't like being ripped off directly from the store. In fact, I'm ruling out buying more from all those stores that are taking advantage of a booming market. I've also received resealed products from Amazon on a couple of times. The current situation is quite shameful....

@Nick Meesterberends Thats the problem, this is a product that should not be eligible for a return, except for something like a language error that is not clear in the page.

Welcome @Marf Shoe Great card. This is one of the cards I'm missing in English. In the beginning, I just collected the art. So, getting the card in one language was enough for me. Over the years, I started organizing my sets by language. Luckily, although I prioritized different cards, I never traded a card in different languages that didn't have a duplicate. So, I have this card in Japanese, not even in NM condition, and it's one of the three I'm missing to complete my Neo4 set. Do you prefer/collect vintage or from all sets?

Potential skyrocket cards
I propose build a post where everyone can post some proposal cards about there is a possibility of skyrocket in early future. If you justify your proposal beyond being a favorite illustration, it will always be more valid for the purpose of this post for other users. ❗❗❗Remember that this post is not an investment recommendation, simply an informative post where we share our tastes and proposals. Each user must be responsible for their financial situation and never spend or invest more than their financial capabilities. 🚫 For example this illustrations from Komiya. 1. Card Drowze sv1v Violet 086/078 in JP. Low price: 1$ High price: 25$ Actual price: 19,17$ (+666% up in last 3 months). 2. Card Frigibax sv2p Snow Hazard 075/071 in JP. Low price: 2,50$ High price: 7,18$ Actual price: 7,18$ (+99% up in last 3 months). 3. Card Actibax sv2p Snow Hazard 076/071 in JP. Low price: 2,50$ High price: 4,58$ Actual price: 3,98$ (+54,26% up in last 3 months). 4. Card Braxcalibur sv2p Snow Hazard 077/071 in JP. Low price: 3,38$ High price: 15,99$ Actual price: 11,27$ (+217% up in last 3 months). All of them in English have experienced even more skyrocketing but actual price is over 30-50€ in mostly of cases so is less attractive to get into you collection. ,

Komiya cards always end up growing in price. I think all Team Rocket/ T.R.R cards will increace in price soon with the new Team Rocket set comming and and seeing that it's going to be even harder to get than prismatic, people will start looking for cards from those sets. These days it's a pain to collect pokemon cards... Pokemon Center is a sold-out site, Pokemon Company says it will make more print runs, and I still haven't seen anything. All the sites are practically empty of Pokemon (or abusive prices). They're not prepared for this demand, but they keep releasing sets that only scalpers buy, so we only can search for cool single cards from old sets.

Hi, my name is Davide and I'm from Italy. I love the vintage golden era of pokemon in fact I want to restart to collect from the first sets up to the current ones. My favourite card in modern times is the iconic Charizard alt art from 151.
