“A black belt is not the end. It is only the beginning.” ~ General Choi Hong Hi 12 words couldn’t have been more appropriate when realizing how much we all should stay within our path of humility and and in a constant state of learning!
The only person you need to be better than is self.! Instructors notice this first! My grandmother a 50+ year practitioner always taught me… no such thing as a bad students… definitely such things as bad instructors.!
Never just Tae Kwon.. always Taekwon-Do. Our Do is what separates us from the other Arts and or factions of our own! Etiquette is the most integral part of the ethos that underpins each relationship, interaction, or personal development in our Art form!
I saw this movie and was in my first class within 2 weeks! Never stopped since....and this song played on my walkman constantly back in 1984! What inspired you you to start your martial art journey?
My Grand(Mother) and my Father! Since I can remember any thought I remember I was doing “the splits” and Naeryo chagi lol. My grandmother and father went hard! For my first 14 years of living I ate slept drank breathed TKD… and then I thought I knew it all about life. I took a 8 year hiatus in my later teens/ adolescence playing basketball in hs/college and being hard headed… after her passing it was like lightning struck me. I had to finish at least from black stripe to 1st dan… well I did that… and then became immersed in a whole new world… I finally learned how to learn.! I finally realized the beauty within the struggle… now I can’t look back.!
@Chris Reid absolutely Sahyunim. She set the path forward and fortunately enough I’ve been able to realize and begin actualizing her dream for me. Which in reality is just always been my own dream and aspirations for myself.! All of my elders including the ones still here will always live through me because I will carry their legacy righteously.!
