🐾 Kiama Pack Walk is a go! ☕
There’s something pretty special about a morning spent walking with good people, great dogs, and a coffee in hand. 🌊🐶 Whether your dog is just starting their training journey, already smashing it, or you simply want to meet like-minded dog owners, this walk is for you. No pressure. No judgement. Just a community of people who love getting out with their dogs and learning together. 💙 📍 Meet us at Penny Whistlers Café 🕗 8:00am 🚶 We’ll head around the Kiama Lighthouse and back, then stick around for a coffee and a chat afterwards. Bring your family, bring your friends, and of course bring your dog! Everyone is welcome. 🙌 Every person who joins us helps us move one step closer to our mission of saving 10,000 dogs from unnecessary behavioural euthanasia by building stronger relationships between dogs and their people. 🐾 See you there!

Thank you so much @Nath Morrison and @Matthew Marsh for all the handling tips and pointers yesterday!
What a German Shepherd needs.
German Shepherds are one of the most versatile working breeds in the world. Bred to think, problem-solve and work alongside people, they thrive when they have structure, purpose and clear leadership. To feel fulfilled, a German Shepherd needs: Structure and routine – Clear expectations and consistent boundaries help them feel secure and confident. A job to do – They excel when given purposeful tasks such as obedience, scent detection, tracking, retrieving, or carrying equipment. Mental stimulation – Puzzle solving, shaping exercises, scent work and learning new skills keep their minds engaged. Physical exercise – More than just long walks, they benefit from activities that challenge both their body and brain. Leadership and guidance – German Shepherds look to their handler for direction. Fair, calm and consistent leadership builds confidence. Relationship-based training – They thrive on working with their person and enjoy having a strong partnership. Confidence building – Exposure to different environments, surfaces, sounds and situations helps develop resilience. Impulse control – Structured training that teaches patience, focus and self-control helps them make better decisions. Great Genetic Outlets * Scent detection * Tracking * Obedience * Agility * Handler Engagement * Retrieve games * Structured tug * Backpack walks * Search games * Problem-solving exercises A fulfilled German Shepherd isn't simply a tired dog—it's a dog whose mind, instincts and desire to work alongside its handler have been meaningfully satisfied.

Does anyone know how to start the calm kickstart? It tells me I need level 3 to unlock?

@Nath Morrison thanks! I thought I was going crazy (and didn't quite understand the levels thing). I thought I had to do something else, first!
Win the Week 🐾
What’s one small thing that happened this week that made you stop and think, “Yep… that’s progress.” It doesn’t have to be perfect or Instagram-worthy. Maybe your dog: – Settled quicker than usual – Chose you over the distraction – Recovered faster after getting excited – Or you just felt calmer handling a moment that used to stress you out Those moments matter. That’s how real change actually shows up. Drop your win in the comments 👇 Big or small, it all counts. Progress loves to be noticed 🤍

Xena and I have been walking part of the blue mile, practicing ignoring other dogs who walk past. I try to ensure she's not boxed in, nor too close to other dogs. This past week she was particularly well behaved, except one point that wasn't her fault (I made clear signals to the other owner not to approach with their dog, which they ignored 😡). Slowly, but surely, I think her personal space 'bubble' is getting smaller. Very very slowly :)
