I Saw My Community in a Skool Ad... and It Was Terrible 😬
Recently, Skool featured Bio Builders in one of its Boost ads. At first, I was excited. Then I looked at the card. What did people see? 📱 A smartphone 📱 A QR code 🙂 My face What didn't they see? ❌ What the community is about ❌ Who it's for ❌ Why they should join If a complete stranger saw that card for 3 seconds, they would have no idea whether Bio Builders was about QR codes, digital business cards, websites, marketing, or something else entirely. That got me thinking... Many of us treat our community card like branding. But when your community appears in: - Skool Boost ads - Recommendations - Referral links - Shared posts - Search results ...that card becomes part of your conversion process. More than 50% of my traffic comes from referrals. Those visitors need to immediately understand why they're here. So I redesigned my card around two simple questions: Who is this for? 👉 For Skoolers & Affiliates What's the outcome? 👉 More Members & Commissions The lesson? Don't just make your community card look good. Make sure it answers: "Why should I click?" Have you looked at your community card lately through the eyes of a complete stranger? Drop a screenshot below. I'd love to see what you're using. 👇

Well done! I changed mine but I’m going to keep working on it. It at least now says who it’s for. I also changed the name of my community to include “business” for search and the ads.

@Jeff Baer thanks 😊
📱 When Did You Last Scan a QR Code?
Be honest... What was the last QR code you scanned? - A restaurant menu? - A digital business card? - A product package? - An event flyer? - A Skool community? - Something else? QR codes have quietly become part of everyday life, but I'm curious how people are actually using them. Drop your answer below 👇 What was the last QR code you scanned, and where did you find it? Bonus points if it was for a Skool community. 😎

Probably from a Youtube video. That's where I scan them the most I think.

@Jeff Baer usually just while they are talking about it.
🚨 HUGE SKOOL SEARCH TIP 🚨
I wasn’t ranking at the top for searches like: ❌ “Link-in-Bio” ❌ “QR Code” So I made ONE simple change… I added those exact keywords into my community description. That’s it. Within one hour, my community catapulted to #1 for BOTH keywords. 🔥 This is your reminder that Skool search is paying attention to relevance signals — and your description matters WAY more than most people think. If you want more discovery inside Skool: ✅ Add the exact keywords people search for ✅ Put them naturally in your description ✅ Mention your niche clearly ✅ Don’t try to be clever — be searchable A lot of creators are naming communities with branded names only… …but users search for SOLUTIONS. People search: 🔍 “digital business cards” 🔍 “local SEO” 🔍 “link in bio” 🔍 “lead generation” 🔍 “QR codes” Not: ❌ “The Freedom Circle” ❌ “Growth Masters” ❌ “The Inner Lab” This small tweak can completely change your discoverability. SEO for communities is becoming VERY real. 👀 What keywords do you want to rank for? Drop them below!👇

@Jeff Baer I just updated them today to include them. It could also be because it’s very competitive. Also, if your community name has your keyword it shows up first. Now I wish it had made mine more specific. Didn’t matter as much before the new search. Not planning on doing another name change though.

@Krista Brea @Jeff Baer yes it does especially now. I don’t think it did as much until the new update. But I know it’s not the end all be all. I’m usually very SEO focused but I didn’t do that with my Skool community. It used to be Next Level Creator Hub but even that name wasn’t all that optimized. I’m just going to focus on as many keywords as makes sense in my bio and hope for the best.
Why I Chose the Skool Pro Plan (And Why It’s Already Paying Me Back)
A lot of people try to save money by sticking with the Hobby plan. I went the opposite direction—and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for growth. Here’s why 👇 1. The Affiliate Program Is My #1 Growth Driver I offer a 40% recurring commission to anyone who refers a member. That alone turns my community into a distribution engine. Right now, I’m already earning $26/month in affiliate commissions—and that’s just getting started. No Pro plan = no affiliate program No affiliate program = no leverage This is the foundation of how I scale. 2. Sidebar Control = Monetization on Autopilot This is bigger than most people realize. With the Pro plan, I control the sidebar—and I use it very intentionally. The most important link? 👉 “Start your own Skool community” That single link is what’s driving my affiliate commissions. Every visitor becomes a potential referral. 3. Why I’m Considering Going Public (Big SEO Play) Right now, my community is private. But I’m seriously considering making it public (view-only): - Anyone can see the content - Only members can engage Why? Because this turns my community into an SEO asset. More indexed pages = more organic traffic More traffic = more people clicking my affiliate links More clicks = more recurring commissions It’s a compounding effect. Bottom Line: I’m not just building a community. I’m building: - A traffic engine - A referral engine - And a long-term recurring revenue stream Pro gives me the tools to do all three. Hobby doesn’t. Curious what you think… 👉 Would you keep a community private, or make it public for SEO and growth? Drop your thoughts below 👇

@Julianne Anderson no pressure! If you’re not ready to join I’d take @Jeff Baer up on his offer. 😊

I think your community would be great as public. There are certain topics and niches that do really well with public. You can leverage “link-in-bio” traffic and each post can be indexed in search. I did have my paid community public for a time but it seemed many of my members preferred private so I switch it. I have three communities now. Main one is pro and other two are hobby. Though I’ll be making another one pro soon since I want to turn on commissions and do a member referral launch.
Using my QR code for YouTube Videos :)
I finally got around to using the QR code @Jeff Baer made for me. They will now appear in my YT videos. It looks so much nicer than an standard QR code. Are you using your QR code? If yes, how are you using it?

@Michael McNeley No data yet. I've only published one video and I don't remember if I added it to that one. Next video does have one so we shall see. I'm just now waking up my channel after a long break and switched niches so I don't get a lot of views yet.
