Let’s learn from each other 💛
I’d love to open up a conversation today. There are so many different therapies and approaches used when supporting people living with dementia, and no two individuals are the same. What works beautifully for one person might not work at all for another. In our work, we often focus on connection, comfort, and what helps in the moment—but I know many of you use different therapies, techniques, and ideas. 💬 I’d really love to hear from you: - What therapies or approaches do you use when supporting someone with dementia? - Have you found anything that’s been especially meaningful or effective? - Are there any therapies you’d like to learn more about? There’s no right or wrong answer here—just shared experience and support. Thank you for being part of this community 💛

You are absolutely right. I was taught that when an individual is dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's you don't argue with them. You let them think whatever trying not to upset them or make them feel a certain way. I've had several family members and individuals I've cared for and currently care for have dementia and I try to interact with them as caring as I can and try to set a pattern if that makes sense. There's a lot of therapies I know nothing about so I'm very curious to learn. The one thing I have found it difficult is that when you are trying to reach a goal or milestone with an individual (whether they have dementia or any other capability) it gets hindered by another person not following or doing something that triggers a behavior which could have been prevented in the first place.
