Raising the Standard in PFP
Hi all, thanks for setting this up. I fully support the focus on proof of competence and verifiable CPD. I’m UK-based (Exeter) and I’m happy to help where I can, share practical site examples, and support quality-first discussions. If we keep it evidence-led and consistent, this can genuinely raise the standard across the trade. @Steve Platt Thanks Steve. For the last 8 years I haven’t stopped trying to educate both myself and others in this life-safety critical trade. Glad to be part of a group that takes standards seriously.

@Steve Platt Spot on, Steve. The industry is shifting towards demonstrable competence, not just “years on the tools”. Over the last few years I’ve taken a firm approach on site: if someone repeatedly ignores standards, I remove them from the task immediately. But if I see potential, I give them a chance and the right attention. I walk them through the correct lessons and real examples so they understand why it matters, not just what to do. This trade needs full awareness and responsibility from day one. If we keep this community evidence led and focused on real install scenarios, it will protect the good installers and expose weak practices. I’m fully behind it and happy to contribute whenever needed.
