5 Years Ago I Had No Plan. Here’s What Happened Next.
This week I dropped the Career Battle Plan. Today I want to tell you why I actually created it. Five years ago, I was drifting. Not just in my career but also myself. I was in a role that played to none of my strengths, all of my weaknesses, and every day felt like a loop of: ➡️ Wake up miserable ➡️ Pray for the weekend ➡️ Spend the weekend dreading Monday And then came the endless “bad luck” streak… You know the one. Where every little thing goes wrong and you start wondering if the universe has it out for you. The phrase “If you don’t have a plan, someone else will plan for you” hit me hard. But here’s the truth… I had no idea what to actually DO with that. No clarity. No direction. Just survival. Eventually I hit rock bottom. And like most rock bottoms, there was a little lower to go before things turned around. Then one day, at my dining room table of all places, it clicked: My life couldn’t stay like this. Something had to change. And I was the only person who could change it. Month by month, things started shifting. Not perfectly. Not in a straight line. But enough that I could finally see progress… and possibility. The Career Battle Plan is the result of that five-year climb: 🔥 Growth 🔥 Learning 🔥 Redirection 🔥 Planning 🔥 And actually EXECUTING It’s the exact process that took me from lost and exhausted… to being a high performer for 8 of the last 10 years — including the last 4. Here’s what I’ve learned: Career “plans” don’t survive reality. Managers change. Roles change. We change. But having a battle plan - A next step. A strategy. A way to identify what’s stopping you and take back power - THAT is what puts you in control of your career instead of drifting through it. I’d love to know what lands with you. Check out the Battle Plan inside the classroom and tell me your top action from it. 👇 If you’ve already started using it, what hit you the hardest so far?

⭐ Life is Heavy Right Now. Let’s Talk About It
Let’s be real and completely open here. Life is fucking hard at the moment. No one seems to like anyone. You can’t have an opinion without pissing someone off and then fearing what that will cause. AI is going to change the entire world and our careers and we have no idea what it will look like or if our careers are safe. Parenting is harder than ever. My 11 year old desperately wants her own phone and we’ve said no. All her friends have one and I have no idea if our decision is right. We got the train in England last week. Same train ride I used to do as a kid when I went to school. It was fucking silent. About 20 kids all sat on their phones and not talking. This makes me feel old but when I was that age we were loud as fuck on those trains. Having a laugh and probably being obnoxious pricks. But not now. AI is probably the most consequential invention or whatever since the internet. It’s going to revolutionize the world in both good and bad ways. Now we see companies laying people off left right and centre. We see billions being spent on AI and technology research and tools. And what does it mean for us as parents with careers? We are trying to raise kids in an age where technology addiction is the new porn addiction. Dopamine hit after dopamine hit fucking up their minds with unrealistic shit. Making them less human and less empathetic. Whilst we try and manage through that. On top of keeping our marriages and relationships alive. On top of keeping the roof on our heads and our income up. In spite of everything being way more expensive than any pay increases we may get. On top of uncertain careers where we have no clue what AI, the economy, the political landscapes and everything else has in store for us. This isn’t some woe is us bullshit and things used to be difficult for our parents and grandparents. I have no idea if it was and in many ways who cares. That doesn’t help the now. The now is us crying out for help but fearing judgement if we do it. The now is thinking everyone is living their best life with their fancy cars and huge houses and loads of vacations.

@Dan Quinlan Thank you for sharing these words.Thank you for speaking it like it is.Thank you for keeping it real. Thank you for being the voice, the voice for what so many people are oblivious to, whether unintentionally or intentionally. Keep sharing it louder. Keep being you. The world needs to hear this message. In a world of robots trying to feel fucking human BOOOOOMMM - I’m here for it, all day, every freaking day. And yeah, I’m right by your side. (not literally that would be weird AF, and well Nami would not be happy with me)
Back to Work — But Not Back to Chaos
After two weeks of vacation, seeing family and not checking e mails, I’m back to work tomorrow. Honestly, It feels weird. Not working felt great. Slowing down felt even better. But there’s always that little voice whispering “you should be doing more.” This time, I’m not listening to it. I’m going back with a different mindset: ✅ One focus for the week ✅ One thing I’ll improve ✅ One thing I’ll enjoy That’s it. No 5am hustle. No guilt for switching off. Just steady, focused progress. 👉 How are you feeling about the week ahead? recharged, resistant, or somewhere in between?

We’ve dropped 100 places… and my competitive side is twitching
Okay, confession time… I’m a little competitive. Since being back in England on vacation, I checked our community ranking and… we’ve dropped over 100 places! Now, I don’t want a group full of random people who never engage — we’re not building a ghost town. But if you know: 👩‍👧 Parents feeling stuck in their careers 💼 Colleagues who want more balance 😬 Or even that friend who keeps saying “I hate my job” every Monday …then invite them in. Because if it helps them and helps us, that’s a total win-win. Let’s climb back up the leaderboard with people who actually get it. So who’s one person you can bring in today? 💪
