The need for customers is real, no doubt. But often “I need more customers” is really “I’m spending my energy in the wrong place.” Once that need is covered, focus shifts to what matters: where is the business now, and where should it be? That gap is the real work. Simple way to find it: two columns covering where the business actually is today, and where you thought it’d be by now. The distance between them tells where your energy should go. Try it!

A founder I was talking to spent all last week being productive. Closed the laptop every night feeling like she’d moved. By Friday nothing had actually changed because the decision that mattered wasn’t on the list. The 10% work was real work, but it was also the perfect place to hide from the one decision she didn’t want to make. That’s the trap with 10% decisions: they feel like progress and ask nothing of you. The 10x ones usually require facing something first.

Your calendar tracks where your time went last week. It says nothing about where your energy went. For most founders, those don't match, and the gap is the thing worth looking at. What drained the most energy last week that wasn't on the plan? One sentence.

@Gabriel Trandafirescu Letting my inbox run my day instead of my priorities. None of those messages were on the plan but somehow they became the plan. And the worst part wasn’t losing the time. It was losing the energy to do the work that actually matters.

You're here early :) I started Iconic Founders (just a week ago) for one idea: most of what might be hurting your business right now: the cashflow squeeze, the burnout, the vision that's stalled - is not the real problem. It's a symptom. There's usually a splinter underneath it, in how the whole thing is wired. The work here is finding that splinter and pulling it, so the symptom resolves from the root instead of getting managed forever. You're the founding circle, and what this community becomes is partly yours to shape. Two things to start: (1) watch the intro (top of the classroom), and (2) drop a hello in the thread below. I read each one.
