🥤 Thirsty Thursday — Let's Talk Juice Baby 🍎🍊🍉🥬
What's YOUR favorite juice? Today we are celebrating the most refreshing thing you can put in your body. I am a juice girl through and through. There is something about a cold fresh pressed juice that just makes everything feel better. And today we are talking about four of my absolute favorites and why each one deserves a permanent spot in your life. 🌿 🍎 🅰🅿🅿🅻🅴 🅹🆄🅸🅲🅴 First things first — fresh pressed apple juice and store bought apple juice are two completely different things. Store bought is essentially sugar water with the good stuff stripped out. Fresh pressed? That's where the magic is. 🌿 Fresh apple juice is loaded with quercetin — a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to reduce inflammation, support brain health, and even protect against certain cancers. It also contains vitamin C, potassium, and malic acid which supports liver function and gives you that gorgeous tart flavor. Green apples give you a sharper more tart juice. Red apples give you something sweeter and more mellow. Mix them together and you've got something really special. 🍎 🥤 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲: 🍎 4-6 apples of your choice 🫚 Optional — thumb of ginger for a kick 🍋 Optional — squeeze of lemon to brighten it up Run through your juicer. Drink immediately. Feel fancy. 😄🌿 🍊 🅾🆁🅰🅽🅶🅴 🅹🆄🅸🅲🅴 Again — fresh pressed only. The stuff in the carton has been sitting in oxygen depleted storage tanks for up to a year before it hits shelves. A YEAR. 😳 And then they add synthetic flavor packs to make it taste like oranges again. Fresh pressed orange juice tastes like an entirely different drink and once you go fresh you SIMPLY cannot go back. PERIOD. Fresh OJ is one of the richest sources of vitamin C on the planet — one glass can give you over 100% of your daily needs. It's also packed with folate for cell health, potassium for heart health, and flavonoids that reduce inflammation and support immunity. 🌿 🥤𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲: 🍊 6-8 navel oranges 🍋 Optional — half a lemon for brightness 🫚 Optional — pinch of turmeric for an anti-inflammatory boost.

Yay and thank you for newly released content, @Jenny Rader-Bakos . I’m with you on freezer love yet know I can learn and level up with my approach. About half of mine is dedicated to frozen fruit and spinach!!

@Kate Galli Since we moved we now have a smaller freezer yet in some ways it has been nice because I can see and know what’s in there. I’ve done so much better with using and replacing what’s there. When it was a little bigger, things would find their way to the back and be there for too long. I’m now in a better practice of using and then replenishing in months vs a year (or more!!) going by and then being like, “hmmm… how long has THAT been in the back of the freezer?!?” 🤭
🏁 Finish Line Friday — That's A Wrap!
What's your win this week? Drop it below — we celebrate ALL of it and ALL of you today. My win this week? I survived. Literally 😂🌿 And that's enough. We don't always need a dramatic transformation. Sometimes you just make it to Friday with your plants intact and your sanity mostly intact and you call that a W. 👊 I've also been working on a NEW classroom this week that will drop later today! You're SECOND pantry — Why my freezer is my BFF 🧊 Now drop YOUR win below — big, small, or just still standing. It all counts in here. 🏁👇

My win was planning a two day getaway this past week and it all working out from a lovely bed and breakfast that made me a special and delicious vegan breakfast each morning plus a vegan baked good each day, to finding some great vegan foods for dinner (the drive to get there was worth it!!) to also enjoy some lovely hikes in nature from in the forest to the shoreline. I’m getting better at “making it happen” and figuring it out. It was wonderful!
🍔 The Burger That Ruined All Other Burgers
My hubby took me out for a burger today. Yes, I still crave a good burger and fries every so often! And yes, I indulge. Now, if you're plant-based, you know the drill. You order the veggie burger with cautious optimism and prepare yourself for disappointment wrapped in a bun. 😂 Every. Single. Time. Not today. Today we went to Wisconsinburger, where our good friend is the head chef, and I can honestly say this was the best plant-based burger I've ever eaten. Crispy edges. Juicy center. Big flavor. Messy in all the right ways. The kind of burger that has you stopping mid-bite just to stare at it. And because I'm me — I got the recipe. 😎🌿 So naturally I'll be heading into the kitchen to see if I can recreate the magic. My husband may have accidentally created a monster. Stay tuned. There may be burger experiments, flying chickpeas, and an unreasonable amount of taste-testing in my future. 🍔💚 Question for my fellow plant-based food lovers: What's the best vegan burger you've ever had? Homemade or restaurant? 👇

My favorite homemade burger recipe is this one. They are great to double batch and freeze (Like wrap by 2’s and then quickly reheat in the microwave for work lunches or a quick bite. https://cookieandkate.com/best-veggie-burger-recipe/ I love trying out veggie burgers at restaurants where they make their own from scratch and have had some awesome ones!
🥤 Thirsty Thursday — Let's Talk About Water.
Yes. Plain Water. 😂 Okay I know. I KNOW. You came here for a smoothie recipe and I'm about to talk to you about water. Just hear me out 🫠 Here's the thing — most of us are walking around chronically dehydrated and we don't even know it. Tired? Probably dehydrated. Headache? Dehydrated. Hungry when you just ate? Might actually be thirsty. Brain fog? You guessed it. 💧 Your body is roughly 60% water. Your brain is 73% water. Your blood is 90% water. And most of us are out here running on coffee and vibes wondering why we feel terrible. 😂 💧 What water actually does for you: 🌿 Flushes out toxins your body worked all night to process 🌿 Keeps your digestion moving — especially important on a high fiber plant-based diet 🌿 Delivers nutrients to your cells 🌿 Keeps your skin glowing 🌿 Regulates your body temperature 🌿 Lubricates your joints 🌿 Literally keeps you alive — which is nice 😂 🌅 First thing in the morning matters most. Before your coffee. Before your smoothie. Before anything. Drink water. Your body just went 8 hours without it and your cells are thirsty. A big glass of water first thing wakes your digestive system up, jumpstarts your metabolism, and honestly just makes everything work better all day. 🌿 I personally start with plain water and then watermelon juice every single morning before anything else hits my stomach. It's a non negotiable now. 💧Not a fan of plain water? Add some lemon, berries, SMALL pinch of salt for electrolytes, or cucumber! Annnnnnd because I can't send you off without something to blend — here's my go-to super hydrating smoothie that basically IS water but makes it delicious: 😂 🍉 The Hydration Hero 🍉 2 cups frozen watermelon 🥒 1 cucumber (peeled) 🍋 Juice of half a lemon 🫚 Thumb of fresh ginger 💧 Coconut water or plain water to blend How much water are you actually drinking every day? Be honest. 😂 Drop it below — and tell me if you're going to try this one! 👇💧

I totally need to drink more water!💦 💙 The watermelon drink sounds so refreshing. @Jenny Rader-Bakos have you found a solution for watermelon in the winter months? I don’t recall seeing it anywhere in the frozen fruit aisle. Or is this mainly your go-to when it’s in season locally?
