๐Ÿ Finish Line Friday โ€” That's A Wrap! ๐ŸŽฌ
Today we celebrate the wins! Big, small โ€“ we want em all! Mine this week is quiet but it counts. My hubby has been working out of town and I fell into the most comfortable bad habit โ€” sleeping on the couch. Two weeks of couch life ๐Ÿ’š My back is NOT happy & my sleep was absolutely trash. This week I actually made it back to our bed. Without my hubby BUT with a new sleeping companion, Mr Dexter. Insert โ€”> another bad habit ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ˜† Turns out sleeping on an actual mattress with an actual pillow changes EVERYTHING. Who knew? And Dexter, well Dexter feels like the KING. Now drop YOUR win below โ€” WE want to hear everything! ๐Ÿ

@Renee B that's a huge win! It's hard sometimes to avoid all those goodies! I love the whitworth area ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š have you been to Boots Bakery downtown? They have some FABULOUS vegan and gluten-free sweets. I think almost everything there is vegan now including their scrumptious waffles!

Newbie here!
Hello, my name is Lisa Kilby. I am not a vegan currently but used to years ago for a while. I was young and had my reasons but pressure to eat like others stopped my eating patterns., Many years have passed. I have had bypass surgery two years ago and am diabetic. My food has to change. Development of chronic erosive gastritis has me eliminating lots of foods. I am ready to go back to being a vegan but with more conscience to how my body reacts. My husband has flirted with the idea so maybe if I try and get things started, he will follow. What do you suggest I start out with? Iโ€™ll take any advice I can get.

Lisa, first of all, welcome. So hapoy you have joined us ๐ŸŒฟ And please don't feel like you have to flip your whole kitchen upside down overnight. With bypass surgery, diabetes, and gastritis, your body has a few extra things to consider. So I'd focus on simple, gentle foods first and let your body tell you what it loves. I'd start with some baby steps! Potatoes, rice, beans or lentils (if you tolerate them well), oatmeal, bananas, well-cooked vegetables, and fruits that don't aggravate your stomach. Start by simply adding more whole plant foods to each meal. Even one plant-based meal a day is a huge win. Since your husband is curious too, make foods that don't feel like "vegan food." Think baked potatoes with chili, hearty soups, burrito bowls, pasta, tacos, and stir-fries. Good food is good food. ๐Ÿ˜Š Most importantly, give yourself grace. This isn't about perfection. It's about learning what helps your body feel its best. We're all experimenting together, and I'm SO excited you're here. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. There is a plant-based recipe category you can scroll through and the recioe vault unlocks once you reach level 3. We're cheering you on every step of the way @Lisa Kilby ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฅค Thirsty Thursday โ€” Let's Talk Juice Baby ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿฅฌ
What's YOUR favorite juice? Today we are celebrating the most refreshing thing you can put in your body. I am a juice girl through and through. There is something about a cold fresh pressed juice that just makes everything feel better. And today we are talking about four of my absolute favorites and why each one deserves a permanent spot in your life. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…น๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ด First things first โ€” fresh pressed apple juice and store bought apple juice are two completely different things. Store bought is essentially sugar water with the good stuff stripped out. Fresh pressed? That's where the magic is. ๐ŸŒฟ Fresh apple juice is loaded with quercetin โ€” a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to reduce inflammation, support brain health, and even protect against certain cancers. It also contains vitamin C, potassium, and malic acid which supports liver function and gives you that gorgeous tart flavor. Green apples give you a sharper more tart juice. Red apples give you something sweeter and more mellow. Mix them together and you've got something really special. ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿฅค ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—”๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ: ๐ŸŽ 4-6 apples of your choice ๐Ÿซš Optional โ€” thumb of ginger for a kick ๐Ÿ‹ Optional โ€” squeeze of lemon to brighten it up Run through your juicer. Drink immediately. Feel fancy. ๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŒฟ ๐ŸŠ ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…น๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ด Again โ€” fresh pressed only. The stuff in the carton has been sitting in oxygen depleted storage tanks for up to a year before it hits shelves. A YEAR. ๐Ÿ˜ณ And then they add synthetic flavor packs to make it taste like oranges again. Fresh pressed orange juice tastes like an entirely different drink and once you go fresh you SIMPLY cannot go back. PERIOD. Fresh OJ is one of the richest sources of vitamin C on the planet โ€” one glass can give you over 100% of your daily needs. It's also packed with folate for cell health, potassium for heart health, and flavonoids that reduce inflammation and support immunity. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿฅค๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ข๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ: ๐ŸŠ 6-8 navel oranges ๐Ÿ‹ Optional โ€” half a lemon for brightness ๐Ÿซš Optional โ€” pinch of turmeric for an anti-inflammatory boost.

From Sick & Tired to Rooted & Wild ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป
Hey there! I'm Jenny (your host) โ€” a wife, a mother to 3 amazing grown kiddos, and newly an Oma to 2 beautiful little granddaughters! In my spare time you'll usually find my nose in a good book or my Bible. One of my favorites is You Are the Placebo โ€” life-changing book right there! Joe Dispenza is such a fascinating author! We are outdoor people and LOVE camping! I also enjoy walking, hiking, and I'm a total gym rat โ€” working on my perfect home gym! My hubby and I are also homebodies, and my favorite thing to do is probably watch scary movies. I love to be scared. ๐Ÿคก I'm a juicer and in my happy place when I'm knee-deep in food prep or creating a new vegan recipe (or three ๐Ÿคช). I'm also a self-taught, full-time plant-based experimenter ๐ŸŒฟ. I went plant-based a little over a year ago after witnessing firsthand what food could actually do โ€” and heal โ€” for me. I had tried it ALL. Keto, Carnivore, Atkins, GLP-1, powders, pillsโ€ฆ you name it. Nothing worked, and I was simply sick and tired of being sick and tired. So I joined a 28-day online fruitarian challenge โ€” and went all in. ๐Ÿฅณ Since then, I've shed 60 lbs naturally, reversed Type II diabetes, dropped my fasting blood sugar from 165 โ†’ 72, lowered my A1C from 6.9 โ†’ 5.0, healed my gut, cleared my brain fog, reversed insulin resistance, reduced my inflammation, and finally started pooping daily (hallelujah ๐Ÿ™Œ). Once my body felt this good, my heart naturally followed โ€” and that's when I became fully vegan. For the first time in my adult life, I've been able to maintain a healthy weight โ€” and at 48 years young, I'm on ZERO medications, prescription or over-the-counter. That's huge, considering I was medicated for most of my adult life. I'm here to share the real, the messy, the delicious, and the always-magical journey of living plant-based โ€” the food, the habits, and the everyday wins (and losses) โ€” so you can see that healthy living doesn't have to be hard or boring. Pull up a chair, and let's get rooted & wild together! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’›

@Lynne Vella I buy the real deal nutrional yeast with no added B12. And I mostly make my own plant milks. This is what I have landed on. I do not take it daily but instead 3-4 times a week. It does not leave a metallic taste in my mouth like the 1st one did! Luckily. I will be ordering a new panel.of bloodwork in September/October to see where my levels are then!
