Thoughts on a Workshop Book Talking?
Now many of you know where you're at with your book. And something that's important to know is HOW TO TALK ABOUT YOUR BOOK! 📖 ⁉️ Why is this Important ⁉️ If you do book signings, on stage, speaking, or just talking with friends and family, wouldn't it be nice to know how to talk about your book? It helps you have more confidence and knowing what is best to focus on in a specific allotted time. I plan on having a wonderful guest, @Chris Hanlon do a workshop over this. He has helped a few and his experience has lead him to help people gain knowledge on speaking. So, this would be perfect to learn more about as an author! It's another form of storytelling! We are working on the times that would fit best. Let me know if this is something that would interest you! 😁

@Dani Rosenblad James Hi Dani and hi everybody! This is Michael Teferi here! I am definitely interested in this process of talking about my poetry books as a trilogy! It starts with my debut poetry book called “Transformation: A Way Of Creating One’s Life Anew”. It’s all about inspiration, self-help/personal growth, and spirituality. I would love to talk about my poetry books anytime, anywhere. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions! My second poetry book is called “Connection: Enjoying And Appreciating Life Fully”. My third poetry book in this trilogy of mine is called “Phenomenal: Being Who One Is Born To Be”. I currently have a fourth poetry book that’s in process that’s happening as we speak, and when it’s completed that poetry book of mine is going to be called “Uniqueness: Loving Who One Is Meant To Be”.

@Dani Rosenblad James Hi Dani and hi everyone! This is Michael Teferi here, a BIPOC Poet, Writer, Positive Psychology Coach, Debut Poetry Book Author, & Podcast Host. My favorite book from back when I was the shy, quiet kid at Brightwood Elementary School in Washington, DC in the 1980s, and it was called “The Amazing Power of Ashur Fine” by Donald J. Sobol. It’s a fictional book about a boy who meets a powerful elephant in the Zoo who gives him the power to be anyone that he wants to be, living or dead, by simply wishing to be. This book shined a light onto who I am as someone who felt immediately misunderstood and didn’t know his place in the world, so reading this fantastic, epic book helped me see something unique and powerful that I hadn’t seen in myself until much later, because I was a late bloomer!

@Dani Rosenblad James Yes indeed, it’s definitely powerful beyond measure to me! I wonder about this kids’ movie that’s out which you’re talking about. What’s the name, Dani?
Finish This Sentence 👇
Let’s make this simple today. Finish this sentence: “My book is for the person who…” Example: “My book is for the person who has carried a story for years but keeps waiting until they feel ready.” Don’t polish it. Don’t make it perfect. Just let the real answer come through. Share it in the comments and reflect on it.

@Dani Rosenblad James Hi Dani and hi everybody! This is Michael Teferi here! “My debut poetry book is for the person who feels misunderstood, and is looking for inspiration, realization, and action as a personal philosophy about life.”—Michael Teferi. This is one of my own personal philosophies about life that I created many years ago. I feel like I can sincerely and genuinely help and support other people as they struggle through their respective lives, as they’re looking for the opportunity to be heard, seen, valued, and appreciated for who they are, no question about it!
Story First Checkpoint ✅
Story First means we don’t just ask, “What happens next?” 💭 We ask: Why does this matter? 🤔 What is shifting? What does the reader or character understand by the end that they didn’t understand at the beginning? That’s where the power lives. Today’s checkpoint: Which part feels clearest right now? A) My book idea B) My reader / audience C) My chapter structure D) My main message E) None of it yet, I’m wandering in the fog ⬇️ Drop your letter below. ⬇️

When life happens, the writing changes
It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, and I wanted to come back and share a little of what’s been happening behind the scenes. The past few months have been a lot. What was meant to be a routine operation in January turned into two ICU visits and three hospital stays. It was one of those periods that reminds you very quickly that we’re not in control. Somewhere in the middle of that, I found myself coming back to my book, and something shifted. I realised I didn’t want to just finish it as it was. I wanted to rewrite it. To go deeper. To be more honest. To drop the mask and just say it as it is. And looking back… a book that was 85% “done” suddenly felt surface level. I’ve written a couple of new chapters since then that feel completely different to anything I had before. There’s a rawness to them that only really came through in that period of discomfort, and strangely, that’s where some of my best writing has come from. Since then, with everything else happening here in the UAE, I’ve been trying to find my rhythm again. It’s not quite there yet, but I know this book needs to be written, and it will be. I’m really glad to be back here @Dani Rosenblad James , and if anyone would be open to reading some of the new writing at some point, I’d love to share.
